Q: What type of cable do i need to charge my Acer laptop using one of the usb charging ports? The laptop has a barrel-type 19v charging port.

The charging ports on the dock are for charging devices designed to charge via USB (e.g. mobile phones, tablets, etc.) I don't don't believe the ports can supply the necessary voltage and amps required to charge your laptop, even if a compatible cable was available. The device is not a dock in the purest sense; you should think of this product as a USB 3.0 hub with integrated audio, video, and network adapters permanently connected to it.

Q: Is it possible to run 2 monitors with the laptop closed?

It's definitely possible, however it is up to your computer setting.
