Fat Pumpkin Costume for Kids of 4t 4 5 6 7 and 8

My youngest announced "I want to be a pumpkin," a week before Halloween, rejecting the other two costumes already available in the house. Knowing there was nothing left in the stores, I ordered this as a desperation move, and it is _great_! The costume is made of what I would consider to be medium-weight felt, so it is very light, and is structured as two circles (one front, one back), sewn together with armholes as shown in the photo. (I actually cared about that, since there are some other pumpkin costumes that are really more like ponchos--I selfishly wanted my kid-pumpkin to look round.) It goes on easily: three velcro closures down the whole back ( = puts on like a coat, only backwards, so it does not have to go over the head). Any wrinkles on arrival quickly disappear if you flatten it out. And it has now been test-driven more than once and is really none the worse for wear, except that fallen leaves do stick to it a bit (I think a couple of minutes with some masking tape on my hand will get it quite clean, though). The hat piece (just another flat piece of felt with a couple of leaves attached) is really extraneous, and the elastic band for it is way too long to hold it on a child's head. But you might be able to rig it into a hairpiece kind of decoration without too much effort. The little pumpkin bag is purse-sized and won't go for trick-or-treating, but it's soft and velvety (not felt) and cute. (And at this price, who cares anyway?)Sizewise, my pumpkin is a 5T, and this costume fit great, just covering the knees and not causing any problems with walking, running or sitting, even sitting on the floor. I am fully confident that it will also fit next year, and possibly the year after that. At a 5T, we were able to fit a hoodie inside and probably could have gotten away with a lightweight coat, too (thin and quilted, not a heavy parka). We put a long-sleeved black shirt, black pants, and black shoes underneath, and it was perfect. I actually don't think it would have looked as good if I had tried to match the orange with a shirt. (The color is almost exactly as pictured here.) I would definitely buy this again and would recommend it to others.UPDATE 1 YEAR LATER:The pumpkin costume is back again! Pulled it out of the box for the local fall fest and it still looked great. No fading, no fuzzing or pilling (unlike others have experienced, perhaps?). My pumpkin kid is now a size 6 and the costume is still ideal (costume is a 5T). Going trick-or-treating in it soon, too!

The costume was about what you would expect for the price. It wasn't the cheapest costume I've ever used and it wasn't the best, but it did do a superb job for Halloween and has entered the rounds of our dress up box and hasn't shown any signs of falling apart at all. I bought it for my 2.5 year old and so far, she hasn't destroyed it. Overall, I would recommend and am very happy with it. Thank you!

Got it for my 3 year old and she kind of a thick little girl and it was way too big she had to wear it over her coat and still had room other than that it was fine

My grand daughter really loved this and the 4 stars were because it needs a top and tights underneath.
