Clear, Detailed, and Understandable
Tracy Markley is a fitness professional who worked with a 65 year old stroke survivor for over two years, helping him regain mobility even after his official physical therapy following his stroke was done. Throughout the course of the book, Markley uses her experiences with a variety of stroke survivors to lend credibility and authority to her words, and she works to help the reader have an understanding of what various stroke survivors might need, from the long term effects that a stroke can have on a survivor, to the need for trust between the fitness professional and the client, as well as clear and effective communication. She points out that consistent, repetitive movement is crucial for a stroke survivor to expect to gain back the most amount and types of movement. All of this is set up before Markley moves into a section of the book with a lot more detailed anatomical descriptions, although she does work hard to keep it as simple as possible and includes a variety of illustrations, and example exercises. Overall, this book is very accessible, and a great resource for stroke survivors, caretakers of stroke survivors, or physical trainers who may have stroke survivors as their clients.

Helpful guide on stroke recovery for what happens post-physical therapy
I am currently working toward my certification as a personal trainer, and I am looking to work for a company that specializes in stroke recovery. I came across this book and found it to be an invaluable resource for my education and training. The book provides a comprehensive overview of stroke recovery, from the science of how the brain heals to practical exercises and strategies for overcoming common challenges. Markley, who is a certified personal trainer and stroke survivor herself, writes from a personal and professional perspective, sharing her own story of recovery and offering practical advice that is based on her own experience and the experiences of her clients. The book is well-organized and easy to read. The exercises are clearly explained and illustrated with photos. The book is also packed with helpful information, such as tips for finding a support group or a therapist who specializes in stroke rehabilitation. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about stroke recovery. It is a valuable resource for personal trainers, stroke survivors, and their loved ones.

Must read if you’re a stroke victim or caregiver to a stroke victim
I recently had a stroke... only last month. I am 65 years young and realized I knew next to nothing on what to expect.i was so ignorant on this subject. I assumed when my physical therapy comes to an end in a couple weeks, I’d be my pre-stroke self. NOT! I learned the therapy will be a daily part of my day, if not for the rest. A very informative book for the rest of my life, for a long time yet.suggestions to help strengthen our core muscles, which we need to have in order to maintain balance.(My longest, hardest ever thera I’m facing. A stroke survivor or caregiver to one NEEDS to read this . I’ve learned so much!
