Such outstanding value.
**** 6 month update ****I’ve had this saw for a while now. I have cut 8/4 Hard Maple with mine and the stock blade with minimal burning. (Maple likes to burn). Also 8/4 cherry, Purple Heart, and Walnut. This saw didn’t seem to struggle with any of it. I’m frankly surprised. No durability or quality issues. Same shape as when I bought it. Great saw.******************************First of all this saw is terrific. There is no question about that. If that’s all you want to know carry on and rest assured it’s a very high quality tool. If you want to know more you’re in luck. I’m about to start rambling! I’ll try to focus on details you don’t get simply reading a spec sheet. This saw is my second plunge saw after owning a DeWalt TrackSaw. I’ve used Festool saws as well although briefly. In my opinion the kreg feels noticeably lighter than the Dewalt. It’s probably pretty close. I have no idea if the stats will prove that to be true but I can tell you just based on user impressions the Kreg feels the lightest. I think that is one thing that contributes to some people saying the saw feels cheap or “plasticy”. It certainly feels less robust than the Dewalt. But I don’t think that’s actually a negative for a precision tool. I would put it like this. If you’re in construction get the Dewalt. If you’re a woodworker get the a kreg. It’s plenty sturdy enough for regular use. But it does feel like maybe it would tolerate being banged around a job site repeatedly worse than the Dewalt. Now as far as features go the Kreg is amazing and matches up very closely with the Festool. No other saw on the market has as robust a feature set. Smart sensing motor? Check. Riving knife? Check. Splinter guard? Check. INCLUDED dust collection? Check. Bevels from -1 to 47? Check. About the only thing the kreg does not have a micro adjust feature for setting the depth. But It does have two presets marked on the gauge for 2x and 3/4 inch materials. The most likely sizes you’ll be cutting which is kind of a nice feature.I’ve included some of the test cuts I made once I got my saw set up. I ripped the rounded edges off of a piece of 2x construction lumber. As you can see the kreg had no problem taking shavings Off. Then I made a 45 degree cut across the 2x4. I’m not sure it comes across very well in the picture because it wasn’t glued or clamped but that miter is dead on. It cut beautifully. And finally a took a piece of 1x material and cut it down into two equal rectangles. The pieces are identical. And every single edge on those pieces was cut with the Kreg. They look like they’ve been sanded. Kreg definitely includes a high quality blade right out of the box.Now that doesn’t mean there aren’t downsides. There are. In my opinion they are not a huge deal considering the value and performance of the saw overall though. Anyway. If you don’t set the splinter guard correctly for the cut I experienced a good deal of chips flying out the front of the saw during cuts. Lowering the guard pretty much eliminated this. But saws including the dewalt don’t have a splinter guard and don’t have that issue. Although that may be related to con number 2. The passive dust collection. It is a tremendous benefit for Kreg to include in the box. And my vacuum situation right now could be better so I do use the bag. It works pretty well. Active collection works better. There’s no way for this to not be true. Adding vacuum suction doesn’t stop the saw from flinging the chips down the hose. It only draws them in faster. So it stands to reason a vacuum could only improve things. But when the bag gets about halfway full boy do you know where it. All of the sudden dust is everywhere except in the bag. And the bag isn’t very large. So you’ll likely want to empty it regularly if you forgo the vacuum hookup. And finally the saw only seems to work on Kreg official tracks. I tried it on the dewalt and a Makita track. The kreg is too narrow for the Makita track. The saw hits aluminum a good 2-3 inches from the edge of the track. Therefore I have to assume it won’t work on a Festool track either. And the center ridge didn’t fit in the kreg track from the dewalt. I haven’t tried on a Bosch/Maffel track because I don’t have access to one. It’s possible Kreg might work on those as they are much more narrow than Festool/Makita tracks. But they’re also more expensive than the kreg track so I’m not sure why you’d want to buy those for the kreg. And if you already own those tracks and presumably those saws you probably aren’t interested in Kreg. I really hoped the Kreg would work on Makita tracks so I could get some really affordable knockoffs to have for 8 foot rips. (I have the ACS table and don’t want to remove the track for rips). The kreg is the only saw I’m aware of out now that doesn’t even work with Festool tracks. They have been the baseline standard for years. At least on the plus side the Kreg tracks do feel extremely well made. They feel like Festool tracks to me. They’re very ridgid and plenty grippy.Overall as I said this is a great saw. It cuts very well and has plenty of power for anything short of the hardest of hardwoods. For the price the value is unbelievable. I highly recommend the Kreg plunge saw.

Saw is working very nicely
Have used this saw now for about a month and a half. I took extra measures to set up the saw exactly per Kregs instructions. The toe-in adjustments were the most time consuming, and took a couple of iterations to eliminate any edge burning during the cutting operations. Have completed two different projects. One involved 5mm plywood with thin, fairly brittle skins on both faces. The other involved surplus IKEA smooth, white 3/4" panel material. The Kreg track (purchased separately) stayed put on both without slipping or clamping during a variety of cuts. There was no chipping of the face surfaces under the saw body on either material. There was some minor edge chipping on the upper off-cut surface of the white panels (very brittle material), but it completely disappeared with a light edge sanding touch up. The included sawdust bag is actually quite effective if just making a few cuts, though it fills up quite quickly. A vac hose connection is better for larger projects. I like the left side blade orientation of the saw. It is easy to walk along the cut line and see what is happening (right hand operating the saw). The soft-start feature made the saw appear to be a little under-powered at first use, but the saw speed increased quickly and smoothly and never bogged down in any cuts. The resulting smooth start-up of the saw was very controlled. The off-cut side edge support tab on the saw adjusted well and worked as advertised. The only thing I have not liked on the saw is the quite stiff trigger. I wish it was easier to engage and hold on, but with use this has become less of an issue. So far this is an impressive track saw and track. Enough so that I am thinking of acquiring more of the Adaptive System components (table, more track, etc.). Additional info: though not part of this purchase, the Kreg track checked out very straight with a precision straight-edge and feeler gauges, showing less than .001 inch variation over 4 feet.

Blade passes EXACTLY where you want.
Saw makes extremely accurate, smooth and repeatable cuts with hardly any tear-out. You just line up your pencil marks to the rail and it cuts perfectly. After 4 or 5 cuts, you feel like a pro. It would be so hard to hurt yourself too. So safe I let my teenager cut unattended. The plastic pieces to align for stops is what prevents a 5 star rating. Just through normal removal and storage (and I handle tools pretty carefully) one of the nuts fell off and is gone forever. You have to loosen the bolts to allow movement and there is just so little thread with no type of catch. It is louder than I expected when the break is activation at power-off, but I always use hearing protection anyway. Was expecting to use it to breakdown sheet goods, but the way it is engineered, you can’t make any cut longer than about 60 inches, so I still have to use my table saw for most rips. So this won’t replace a table saw. To buy separate tracks to rip plywood length-wise requires over $200 after spending $900 is a disappointment. I am happy with it and am glad I bought it.

My first track saw
This is a great saw for someone like me that is a hobby woodworker. I’ve been using it for about a week and a half and haven’t had any issues with it. Great buy for the money

Made cutting plywood sheets so easy! Bought with a track! Cut down on construction time. No more chalk lines just make two marks and go. No kick back and no dust in my face! Really a safer product and i will only use this saw for long straight cuts! Made me look professional with my cuts and i am a diyer!!!
