I bought this for searing steaks after cooking them sous vide. I tried several others, but this particular torch is the clear winner. The flame is very intense and hot which is exactly what's needed for the job. The lever flow-control works perfectly without blowing out the flame like others do. The quality is quite robust, the valve lever and the valve itself is substantial and the handle is very solid.The only caveat, and the reason for subtracting a star, is the connecting nut on the tank end of the hose is non-standard here in the states. However, that is easily fixed with a 'B004QAM166' Brass Hose Fitting, Connector, 1/4" Barb x 1/4" Female Pipe and a 'B01MZ8PRMP' QCC1 1/4 Propane Fittings Regulator Valve Adapter with Acme Nut and 1/4 Inch Male Pipe Thread (to fit a standard 5-gal tank) or a 'B000BQM8IU' 1/4 Male Pipe Thread x 1"-20 Female Throwaway Cylinder Thread Fitting (for the small 1-lb tanks). Adds a bit to the cost, but once you fire this thing up you'll appreciate the value.
