No Roses for Harry!

My son and I loved reading this book. The story holds the attention of the most squirmy kid, and the reader enjoys how the story unfolds to a funny conclusion. I buy this book for lots of little kids, especially now that it comes as a board book and it can be around for generations. The other books in the series are also a good read.

I had this book as a child and I decided to get myself a copy.I didn't realize that it was a soft bound book. I'm not too happy about a soft bound - I feel they are hard to hold in this size but I get that they are cheaper to produce. But I'm thinking this out of copywrite so therefore it's not like the publisher has to pay a lot to print it...The story is still good and I hope little kids today enjoy it as much as I did as a little kid in the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth!

Printed on yellow tinged paper which really makes the illustrations look dull. Otherwise my kids love the story.

This is a classic children's book! But why is it printed on yellow paper? That isn't how it's shown on amazon or how it is made originally.

worth reding

I love this series! I have purchased this book for my nieces and nephews, as well as my daughters first grade classroom. Very cute story!

As far as the quality, this was a replacement. First book came with the edges of the cover ruffled and ripped. Seller responded and sent replacement quickly. New book is in perfect condition. No complaints!Regarding the story, it’s wonderful! This was part of my children’s library twenty years ago and I still love it! This was one my kids asked to read over and over again. It’s funny and sweet and just perfect.Thanks!

These books bring back happy childhood memories. I have purchased this and another one for my grandson (9) for Christmas the past two years. He struggles with reading but can read these books by himself. He thinks it’s cool that I had them as a girl.

I loved reading about Harry the dog when I was a child, and this must have been one of my most-borrowed library books, so I was delighted to find it still in print all these years later. 'No Roses' is Harry's second adventure.It's Harry's birthday. Grandma has lovingly hand-knitted him a sweater. Although it is cosy and snug, it's covered in roses, so Harry decides it has to go - with hilarious consequences, as ever.Any child (or adult) who's ever received a gift that wasn't exactly to their liking with sympathise with Harry's plight in this story. Gene Zion spins a good yarn, and Margaret Bloy Graham's wonderful illustrations bring Harry to life. The little dog's glum looks as he walks around town wearing his sweater are a sight to behold!'No Roses for Harry' is a great book to share with your little one. I love the 'Harry' stories and reading them to my 14 month old. We have a little white dog so he can relate. This story is particularly sweet because Harry's grandma buys him a coat he doesn't like. It's just the kind of thing my dog's 'grandma' would do too. Not too long a story for little ones.

All our family enjoy this book, the illustrations are pleasing, the story is funny and naughty with no horridness and we love Harry, who is also in 3 other books we have, and is now a family friend.

I love Harry the Dirty Dog, having read the book when I was a child. Now I am a jumper-knitting granny, this is a perfect book for my grandchildren. Great illustrations, in a style typical of the time it was first published.
