The Amish Clockmaker
This is the third in The Men of Lancaster County Series by Mindy Starns Clark and Susan Meissner"The Amish Clockmaker"Wow this book like books one and two are like stories within stories, this series is unlike other Christian Amish fiction in that it's told through the eyes of the character duing parts of the book, and at the same time you will still get the romance, scripture, and simple life you are use too.Matthew Zook wants to expand his families tack and feed store and after much prayer and contenpltion he is finally ready to take the step toward his future, only to find out at the last minute that a surprising land dispute could put a halt to his plans.Clayton Raber the old clockmaker who lived in Matthew's homestead years prior and in fact his clockmaking business was at onetime Matthew's tack and feed now, left town after he was accused of killing his wife in a fit of rage. Matthew has a special feeling for Clayton since he grew up in his old bedroom, now can he find Clayton some 60 years later and make things right and fix the property dispute at the same time. This book was a wonderful example of deep love and and faith. The message in this book was one of such deep understanding it will strick a cord with everyone. To love someone so deeply that you are willing to give up your own life to leave everything you know and believe behind is a wonderful act of god's grace. This series is truly a must read.

Clearing The Past For The Future
Expansion of the family Tack & Feed store , the one my father was not for. I as owner now, looking to the future, thought we needed the double space and revenue. A neighbor stops the construction saying that the parcel did not belong to my grandfather, as I thought he bought sixty years ago.As walls came down, a secret was revealed. Setting upon himself, to uncover the questions of why it was hidden. Coming to meet a man who reminded him of his grandfather . Accusation broke the man from his faith and lived a life of isolation, until now. A good story of clearing the past.

Lives of different generations intertwine
What an emotional story. Clayton, the clock maker, is asked yo marry the neighbors daughter as she is with child by an Englisher. He has always loved Miriam, although she did not know it, so he agreed. Later on they have problems because she cannot adjust to the situation. Then she miscarried the baby and her thinking goes haywire. She ends up dying a d he is accused of killing her in a lover's rage. After a couple weeks in jail, he is released because a witness comes forth and tells the police it was indeed an accident. The witness does not want anyone to know his name or that he had been there and not stayed. However, the entire community thinks Clayton is guilty and got off on a technicality. He cannot take it and leaves town and no one knows where to. Many years have passed and people still talk about the incident and say he killed his wife.Because of some missing details in the purchase of the land and shop where Clayton's family had lived, Matthew Zoom has to find Clayton and get his signature on a quick claim deed.Everything about the death of Miriam comes out and the things Matthew goes through to find Clayton make for a very good and interesting story. I would most definitely recommend reading it.

Intriguing and well-written novel.
First let me say I am a prolific reader of many genres of fiction novels and I've read hundreds of Amish fiction novels. Normally, I read at least two novels per week of different sorts. The Amish Clockmaker has to rate in the top five Amish fiction novels I've read over the last ten years, not only for the plot and great story-telling but for the excellently written prose.Normally, I read Amish fiction to completely unwind and read a simple story of faith and romance and many times it's on a very juvenile level. This novel fits the parameters of faith and romance but it by no means is written only for the juvenile audience. It is so much more. It is very well written with the characters developed and the dialog very realistic (not stilted). The characters do not seem like flat cardboard characters but three dimensional. The dialog is more mature than much I've seen in Amish fiction. You will not regret reading this book.

Wow. Best one of the series!!
I loved this book. It is not your traditional Amish fiction. It's written from a male viewpoint and follows the stories of two separate men generations apart.Matthew Zook wants to expand a building but needs to find the landowner first. The landowner is Clayton Raber who was excommunicated decades earlier because he was arrested for the murder of his wife, but then found innocent. However, when Clayton is shunned by his community he leaves and no one knows where he has gone. This is a problem for Matthew who needs to find Clayton or lose everything. And so he goes on a quest to find Clayton.I loved this book. Not only was it the best out of this series (which were all excellent) but I really enjoyed the two stories within the one plot. And throw in a good murder mystery and you have a great story.Highly recommend.

Great book
Although this is the third book in the series, it reads well as a stand alone novel. Enjoyed it - the story begins with Matthew in the current time, and then goes back in time to Clayton's. I was so into Matthew's dilemma that when the book went back in time to Clayton's story, I had to put the book down for the day, and pick it back up the next day. The author does a beautiful job showing how the past affects the future, and how gossip becomes "fact", and how one person who cares enough to make the truth a priority can redeem relationships that were broken. This is not the typical Amish "who will the girl marry" novel, and quite refreshing!A very good read- glad I got it.

Of the three books Men of Lancaster I loved this one the most
Of the three books Men of Lancaster I loved this one the most. I read it in a day I could not put it down, couldn't wait until the end to see how it came out. Would recommend this book to anyone who likes Amish stories. I have interest a lot of tweens to read these Amish books as they always have a good story and don't have to worry about them reading something they should not be reading at their age.

A Great Read
I read this on the KindleThis was one of the best books i have read in a while it about Clayton who is arrested for the murder of his wife in the 1950s he is then released saying no evidence with his family & the church believing he did it he leavesSixty years later there is a dispute on a piece of land which Clayton's father had signed over to him but no one in his family knew so Matthew who is expanding or lose his business so he much find ClaytonSo you go on a journey, the first part of the book is Matthew's story the 2nd part is Clayton's then the 3rd part is Matthew's journey trying to find out more & where Clayton is if he still aliveIn the story a clock is found which is made by Clayton,if i have any criticism of this story it would be i like to know what happens to the clock, also a little more about the hotel & the company who the dispute of the land they also wanted how they dealt with it also rather than a just a thought type of finish it would a chapter to finish it off but that aside it a very good read & would highly recommend this book i couldn't put it down until i finished it

Best one of the series. Very intriguing and inspiring. I like that the story was written in three parts. The love displayed in the story is so selfless and pure. A refreshing change of pace.
