Not a good solution
I've now owned four of these, as there weren't other options for 'black-box' type cameras until recently and I really wanted cameras front and back on my bicycle.PROS: it records 1080p video, and reliably detects impacts/accidents (I've had it save video when my bike fell over, or when I left it on when I was leaned the bike over while changing a tire).CONS:1) Fragile... this is unforgivable in a camera that's supposed to survive an accident. I had the USB port fall off on one, and another simply fall off it's mount. A third broke when it fell less than a foot.2) Finicky. I had to manually erase these almost daily. They're supposed to run in a loop unless you save video, but mine ran to the end and stopped.3) Mounting options are terrible. The best option is the 'Go Pro' adapter, sold separately, but even that one was fragile.Recommendations:If you want a front black-box camera, try the Cycliq Fly12, which I'm currently testing myself. Stay away from the Rideye, it's not a good product.

Doesn't seem new!
The media could not be loaded. Good camera, poor audio, can barely hear it when I say something let alone a driver, but seems to have no problem picking up noise from vibrations and wind.Lighting seems a little off sometimes. Now for what really grinds my gears! The camera is sold as "new" however the box and camera look used, the black pieces on the front and back were scuffed up straight out of the box, some of the lettering was scratched off, the lens appeared to have smudges, however no matter how much I try to clean it off it stays there. I am starting to think its scratched, the back had residue on it. You may think I'm being nit picky, but this camera costs more than a go pro hero and to receive it in this condition is frustrating.EDIT: i have added some extra cork bar tap for padding under the camera, now it doesnt seem so bad, here is a short video.

Works as described. Cycles in continuous loop. Can also save video to external storage. Continues to work for me in light rain.

I am so disappointed in Rideye
I am so disappointed in Rideye. On paper it has everything I want, long battery life, 1080p and auto crash recording. unfortunately, it is not much more than a paper weight. I have had 3 replacements for the Rideye. One broke because the connector came loose while the others did not survive a ride in the rain. One of its highlights was that it was supposed to be very durable. Do not buy it is a waste of your time. video quality is so so and the audio is junk even when not moving.

Love this bike camera
I've been using RidEye cameras on my daily bike commute for years. I ride in the Pacific Northwest and this camera has endured year after year of heavy rain and has never had an issue. I've even neglected to close the charging port, still no water issue, ever... I feel naked without the cameras on my bike. The only real issue I've noted is the sound is sub-par, so I dropped one star for that. Make sure you occasionally connect this to your computer to remove older files that are 'locked' because of crash detection (i.e., large bumps...). Also, ensure you update with the latest firmware patch.

Good camera, everything else is bad
The good:It takes video. High quality video which I used a few times to report driver issues. Having video changed the conversation with the police from what seemed like a nuisance report to a report which resulted in distinct action. The bad:To put it simply, the mount sucks. Two of them have broken in less than a year. The button is hard to actuate if you've got gloves on and the LED is mounted too far away from the viewport which makes it only visible at a narrow range of angles. The ugly:Now after less than 9 months of ownership it's dead. Won't start up and almost 2 months of support requests have gone unanswered.

Be your own witness
Update: Something seems to have failed. Not sure if it's the flash storage or what, but the camera can no longer be mounted as a USB drive, and therefore I can't even patch the firmware. Manufacturer was responsive and said I could send it back for replacement.Original review:Purchased this as one of the original Kickstarter backers, and I've been very pleased with it. Construction is very solid. Battery life seems to provide 4-5 hours of recording time.Video quality is excellent compared to my previous camera, which was a ContourHD camera. Color, detail, and exposure are appropriate, and the field of view is wide. Rideye breaks video into five-minute segments. Older segments are overwritten when space runs out on the internal memory, which means you don't have to worry about running of memory. The camera can be mounted upside down, and because it has a built-in gravity sensor (like most smartphones) it is smart enough to flip the recorded video so that you do not end up with an upside down video file. I appreciate the hard-coded timestamp, since I am using this camera primarily as "insurance." Resolution can be set to 1080p or 720p, and the framerate is 60fps. Extracting video from the camera is as simple as plugging it into a computer via a micro-USB plug.I will admit that the provided Rideye handlebar mount was not very stable – lots of camera wobble when riding over bumps and potholes in the pavement. After riding with the provided mount for a few weeks, I purchased the optional Rideye GoPro adapter direct from the Rideye website in order to pair this with a K-Edge mount (specifically the 560 aero combo). This is a much burlier handlebar mount, and the camera now has a rock-solid attachment point to my bars.I highly recommend to anyone who regularly commutes in traffic alongside motorists. I believe this camera is reasonably priced, given the quality of the product, the video it produces, and the peace of mind it provides knowing that little brother is always watching. Also, a camera is no substitute for a good set of lights (front and rear) – make yourself visible.
