The machine is a beast but I guess the operating system wasn't installed properly. It keeps telling me that I need to activate my windows even though I know its legit. By the time it gave me this error I had already done so much work on here and all of my Graphic design apps require extensive setting up for the work that I do that I simply don't have the time to reset it all. The HP customer service was horrible in that they refused to help me fix the issue without factory reseting everything first. This is now the only form of computer I have as it was an upgrade and don't have a storage device to store my work to back it all up. A real pain in the ass.

Good for the price
PC works well and has plenty of USB 2's and 3's and I like the cover over the front USB"s. The wireless keyboard and mouse are nice. Overall I am happy with this PC. A couple of minor complaints, there is a red bar across the front that is very bright. The computer is quiet and I could leave it on at night except for that bright light which flashes when the PC is asleep. The light would flash even when the PC was off when I first got it and I had to turn the power off at the power strip. That has stopped and now the red light stays off once the PC is turn off. I always turn off the PC at night anyway, so no problem. Another less minor thing. The PC case front and top are angled so it looks like the PC is not level. I don't know why someone would want that. The good far outweighs the bad. A fine PC at this price.

I'm happy with the new PC
For the most part, I'm happy with the new PC. Setup was quick and while I'm not 100% comfortable with Windows 8, I was easily able to configure a traditional desktop. My only complaint is it's loud. I don't think it's the fan ... it's more like a vibration noise. I really wanted the tower on top of my desk for easier access to the USB ports, but the buzzing is right in my ear and drives me nuts after a while. I've seen a few other complaints about buzzing/crackling coming from the speakers, but I don't have any speakers attached. If I press down on the top, I can get the buzzing to stop but it's kind of hard to work one-handed!

Best Possible Computer for the Price
I've had this about a week now and I love this! I edit short HD videos quite often and my old laptop couldn't quite keep up. I was seriously worried about all the negative complaints saying they got the 700-200 instead, or didn't get the wireless keyboard or DOA, but I had nothing to worry about! This is great for playing games and editing videos. It doesn't make any fan noise at all even when processing a ton of data. It won't break a sweat at day-to-day browsing like just going on Facebook, YouTube, checking emails or using MS Word. By far the best computer for the price.Pros: Connects through WiFi so I don't need a super long Ethernet cord, a ton of USB ports, power button on top (revolutionary), additional drive and bays open, no fan noise, turns on incredibly fast thanks to Win8, good looking compared to some desktops, overall fairly well built. The cons are quite limited. I do like the wireless keyboard and mouse, but I don't like the idea that the batteries could die at any time and you have to keep extra batteries on hand. The exterior looks beautiful but the glossy black panels are unbelievably flimsy and the panel you slide down to reveal the SD card slots and 4 USB inputs actually squeaks when it slides. I also want to put the "Beats Audio" in the con column because there isn't an internal speaker so what good is it?! They made it sound awesome but they put in very fine print on the leaflet that speakers are sold separately. Thankfully I already had a great stereo system that works with a PC.I'll update this later if the computer slows down after time, but so far I definitely give it 5 stars!

IT Pro says: "Buy something else."
If you're looking something to watch movies, play games, shop online or hook up on Facebook this system is for you. Because it comes with Windows 8.1 as the operating system.HP says you cannot use any other operating system because other operating systems do not have the drivers for the hardware on this computer.Because of the help desk chat representative believing I am an idiot, NO MORE HP systems for me.Note: When you outsource your Help desk to mud huts in 3rd world countries you get the support that you pay for.

Keyboard and mouse but not wireless
Question feedback on site for product said that wireless keyboard and mouse are included but when I got the product it had only the cheaper wired USB version. The product manual on HP website for the HP Envy even says that it comes with a wireless key board and mouse. But it is not listed at all under product specs which was unusual. When I tried to call Amazon customer service about it, you would have to return the whole order (desktop and accessories) to get it corrected. And most likely it will be the same thing. I wish that the site made this more clear. Somewhat frustrating and unexpected.

Effective Hardware
The desktop itself is nice, although it has a rather large foot print for this day and age. It has taken awhile to get used to Windows 8, but that was true for 7 when I changed from XP. What I do not like is all the "free trial" software that is pre-loaded on the computer. As the trial period comes to an end, you are continually "hounded" to make a purchase. The MacAfee virus soft ware is the worst.

The PC works fine but the keyboard arrived "dead"
The PC works fine but the keyboard arrived "dead". Fortunately, I was able to use the keyboard and mouse from my old computer. Since my old mouse is flakey, I'm not to happy.
