Caveman

DVD was a fair price and described accurately.
I bought the movie Caveman for my adult grandson for his birthday because he had never seen it. Since I know his sense of humor I knew he would get a kick out of it. I know I did. Funny, entertaining, movie. When looking for a reasonably priced DVD I I’ll definitely look this seller up again.

Caveman
Caveman is a film that can be watched multiple times & still make you laugh. Not quite a classic but it is the best film Ringo Starr ever made in which he had the lead role. There's very little true dialog which only adds to the hilarity. There are many highlights in this film. And it implies a lot of firsts in history occurred with Atouk's (Starr) tribe of misfits. In these we have the discovery of fire, the first jam session, the first fried egg, the first use of weapons, the first chiropractic procedure & the first "mickey finn".The film features some-to-be stars: Dennis Quaid (Lar)& Shelley Long (Tala). Other actors include Jack Gilford (Gog), John Matuszak in grand form (Tonda) & the well endowed Barbara Bach (Lana). The film centers on Atouk & the band of misfits he puts together. He is cast out of his own tribe by Tonda because Atouk is always trying to get with Lana. Later he finds Lar who becomes his best friend. Later they come across Tala & Gog. Gog is blind & this leads to some memorable moments. We even get an unrecognizable Richard Moll (Bull Shannon/Night Court) as the Abominable Snowman.Caveman falls into the same category as Airplane! released the year before. It's a parody that spoofs other films or situations that could only happen the caveman way. The film can be played in three different languages (why?): English, French & Spanish. It also has subtitles (again, why?) in the same three languages. Actually, you can pretty much enjoy this film without any audio except for the jam session. It's a great film that I never fail to enjoy. Highly recommended. It also has two versions of it because it's a two-sided disc. One is the widescreen & the other is standard mode.

One Zillion Years ago, on October 9th, there was this Caveman...................
First off folks, this is a parody and not meant to be taken seriously, and I doubt it could have been done much better. The story is a simple one. Atouk loves Lana, the wild and beautiful mate of the powerful chief Tonda, But Lana has eyes only for Tonda. Since Atouk is the low man in the tribe, he tries to resort to trickery to be with her, only it backfires in the worst way and he finds himself kicked out. He finds his friend Lar, a young man who was kicked out earlier because he was crippled in a monster attack and together, they brave the wide world. They soon meet others, Tala and her blind father Gog whom they rescue from a tar pit, and then others soon follow to join them. Along the way, Atouk makes some important discoveries, standing upright, discovering fire, cooking, music, and how to deal with the monsters that abound in that land. The monsters themselves are quite memorable and well animated. A huge mosquito, a big bug-eyed chameleon-like creature that Atouk later uses like a horse, an angry mother Pteranodon, a funny ice age creature and one of the most engaging elderly Tyrannosaurs ever seen, Not to mention the coyote slash owl, rooster lizard that crows, hoots and howls for night and morning. Tala has fallen in love with Atouk, but will Atouk return the favor-or will he finally get Lana and what will happen when he does. Pop some corn and sit down to a blast with Shelley Long, Barbara Bach, Jack Gilford, Dennis Quaid, John Matuzak, Avery Schreiber and Ringo Starr and a host of others real and unreal in a wild romp one zilliom years ago, on October 9th,

Classic from childhood
I'd forgotten about this movie until recently, then one of my cousin's linked to a video of the music scene on YouTube and after watching it, I immediately came here to see if it was available on DVD. At the price of 5 bucks, who can resist? I didn't even hesitate to buy it.For people who used to watch this in the 80s with their siblings and parents, this DVD is priceless. It brought me back to so many viewings and shared laugh sessions as we re-enacted scenes. My mom still loves to bust out her Tonda imitation, which is kinda scary.I had my kids watch this with my dad when he came over for a visit and it kept their attention the whole time. After a few appearances of the monsters, they'd yell "MACHA! MACHA!" at the cavemen as a warning. There was so much that I hadn't understood or perhaps just forgotten, but now that I watch this with a set of adult eyes, I catch a lot of the camp factor that makes this such a great movie. For example, the movie establishes its goofiness right off by setting the time of the movie as "1 Zillion Years Ago" and then stating that the date is "October 9". Later, they meet the Asian caveman and he tries to teach them English, but they take him for an idiot and go right back to their simple caveman language. Now if you'll excuse me, it's lunchtime. I've got to go find some ool.

SLAPSTICK COMEDY NEVER CHANGES/RINGO SAVES THE DAY
Ringo showed an unusual acting skill in this movie: he used made up words, track and field experience(from that soccer they play in England) and pure leadership to conquer a pack led by a bully, ex-NFL football player John Matuszak.Ringo Starr played a caveman named Atouk, a caveman so low on the totem pole he was forced to taste new food. Still, he didn't let it get him down; he lusted after the well endowed Lana (Barbara Bach-who was and still is his wife, according to Google).Lana only had eyes for the tall, muscular Tonda. There are several interesting scenes: discovering and stealing fire; the creatures who crow at dawn and bay at the moon; losing Ta; the big fight scene at the end.But even before then you'll see a sing-a-long around the campfire, and a cold, dejected monster (Richard Moll) who just wanted to play. Some things just haven't changed, no matter how matter how many years have passed.

One of my favourite films of all time
Silly comedy with Ringo Starr and Dennis Quaid. Always makes me laugh and leaves me speaking caveman language. Luckily I was able to get a copy for a present for one of my kids who hasn't seen it yet!
