Accurate! Also has both Celsius/Centigrade and Fahrenheit markings.
Because I am primarily interested in accuracy, I replicated the test that another reviewer did. This thermometer passed with flying colors. In an ice-water bath, the thermometer quickly stabilized and read exactly 0 degrees Celsius/Centigrade. Spot on.In boiling water, the thermometer read 101 degrees Celsius/Centigrade, which, obviously, is one degree off. Also that amounts to 1% error which is pretty good for any measuring instrument.I bought the thermometer primarily to check the temperature in my house and also outdoors. At 20 degrees Celsius/70 degrees Fahrenheit (a typical room temperature), by interpolation, I may expect this thermometer to be accurate to within 2 tenths of a degree Celsius or half a degree Fahrenheit. That inaccuracy is less than the typical temperature difference between one side of a room and another, or the center of the room versus close to the wall, or knee-height and shoulder-height.I was pleasantly surprised to find that the thermometer reads both Centigrade/Celsius and Fahrenheit. Perhaps I missed that in the product description. This thermometer is what I hoped for and paid for. I'm completely satisfied. Two out of two tests say this is a good product. Go ahead and give it a try, your risk is low.

perfectly calibrated
I am a meteorologist and thus need a very accurate thermometer for calibrating an automated electronic temperature sensor on my weather station. First though, I needed to make sure that this thermometer was perfectly calibrated itself. To do this, I mixed snow and water in a tube so that it was a perfect low viscosity slush. Once the temperature settled, the thermometer read 0.0 C on the button! Next, I need to check the boiling point, which at 5000 feet where I live, should be about 95.0 C on average (it varies a few tenths of a degree depending on the current atmospheric pressure.) So, I brought some water to a low boil, measured the temperature, and it was within a couple tenths of a degree of 95 C. I am very happy it is so accurate, and because of its accuracy, I am very confident that my calibrations of the electronic temperature sensor are also very accurate.

I bought this because I like thermometers, barometers
I bought this because I like thermometers, barometers, and hygrometers. This has really come in handy just recently to calibrate my upstairs and downstairs heat pumps; one being brand new. Also just replaced the elements in my water heater. I used this to dial in on the water temperature by using it at the kitchen faucet. It's accurate and just nice to have.

Using it as a reference..
Works fine. How accurate? Who knows? Using it to decide which of several electronic gauges are probably right. The electronics disagree with each other by several degrees.

Accurate and fast measurments
Accurate and fast results needed for my daughter's experiments. Each measurement required 10 degree C increments and the thermometer helped her know how fast to heat the water to get there.
