Great but no competition for the DGS version
I liked it a lot. . .but then returned it for a Devin Graham signature version. For the extra money, the improved mounting system and the movable gimbal point is worth it. I'm sure anyone could do a great job with this one, so if money is a factor don't let me dissuade you. I just figured I'd have this for years and the extra features would pay off. I've only used the DGS version on a couple of shoots and nobody would call my feeble efforts "steady-cam" but wow, it really opens up worlds of video looks. I'm hooked; I think Glidecam engineering is top-notch and if you can't steal the extra couple hundred for the DGS version, get this.

Super shaky footage....
Despite months of practice and tutorials on operating this glidcam, it’s impossible to stabilize. The footage is super shaky. Very disappointing. Perhaps there is something defective-but if you really take the time to learn how to use it-you’re past a return window. DO NOT recommend.

I totally recommend this baby
After using several types of cheap stabilizers in the past (with too many disappointments), I decided to close my eyes and "swipe" my plastic card for the Glidecam HD-4000 + the quick release plate. I'm so happy I made this decision. I realized the difference between this tool and other cheap brands from the moment I opened the box. Everything about the Glidecam feels professional, excellent and durable. In my opinion, the biggest advantage that the Glidecam provides is the ability to micro adjust the camera-mounting platform. Since any little moves of the camera affects the balance of the stabilizer, you need some good technology to fine-tune and calibrate the whole system; otherwise, it takes forever to reach the perfect balance. The Glidecam offers this special technology that makes the calibration work so easy. However, I must admit, it takes some time to learn how to adjust this thing properly. The instruction manual provided to me little help. To get better at it, I had to watch tons of videos on youtube and vimeo. Once I got it right, the results were amazing (took me about 30-45 minutes to balance it perfectly). On the screen, the camera looks like it's flying!!!The only disadvantage of this tool is its weight. I use this stabilizer with my 5D Mark III and the Canon 24-105mm lens. As you can imagine, my hand gets seriously tired after 5-10 minutes of use of the stabilizer. But I won't complain about that because I already knew that the Glidecam HD-4000 would be heavy. To anyone who wants to take their video work to the next level, I totally recommend this baby.

Amazing but practice a lot.
I love this thing. It takes practice and some post-production wizardry to make it perfect, but even in-camera the footage is amazing.

Buy A Ronin Or Gimbal Instead
Kind of a pain to use. Would recommend investing in a Ronin or Gimbal instead. Also, super overpriced. It's pretty much the same cost as a Zhiyun Crane.
