TOO EXPENSIVE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO BLOCK NUTSEDGE WEEDS
I've never been one for always using landscaping fabric since I feel most if not all companies believe their fabric is the best at blocking out weeds but can never hold up to doing the actual task of blocking out the weeds. I've been disappointed too many times in the past, but my husband tried doing more research on various professional grade landscaping fabric. He thought he finally found a fabric to use with the Dewitt P3 landscaping fabric that would hopefully block out weeds from growing in our newly made playground area we made for our little girls. We received the fabric on 29 May 2019 and installed it on 1 June 2019. By the 8th of June....a week later....I noticed several areas where nutsedge weeds had grown through the fabric and a few inches of mulch. Please keep in mind the soon to be playground area was prepped properly with removing all weeds/grass and putting a special kind of weed killer down to prevent any kind of future growth before applying the fabric. I was hoping with how expensive this fabric was and the great reviews it had that it would stand up to the daunting task of keeping out most/if not all weeds for awhile...at least longer than a week. I am completely dissatisfied with this product and will never buy again.

Heavy duty, expect it to last for several years.
Our contractor put down some weed barrier in the flower beds and I figured I would do the same thing in the kid play area. I found this stuff on Amazon and decided to give it a shot. It is much heavier duty then the stuff they used. I have a feeling the stuff they used was just the generic Lowes/Home Depot off the shelf stuff. The Dewitt 5-ounce is thicker and it has a much heaver feel to it. While installing it the wind caught a few places that I had not fully nailed down to the ground. No rips, tears or nothing. I simply just nailed it back in place after it tried to form a sail and fly away from me. Our contractor used a 2 or 3 foot wide barrier. I had to do a fairly large area and there was no way I wanted to do 20 passes to fill it all in. 6 foot was prefect and was not too much to work with. It was heavy enough you could simply nail down an edge and just roll it out like carpet. It does drain water, but not very quick, but I cannot imagine anything draining quickly at this thickness. For that matter, my ground doesn't absorb water any faster then it drains.

Weeds Come Thru in 3-Weeks
Weeds came thru after 3-weeks. I cant believe it. After reading the great reviews and preparing the area (only dirt showing before laying fabric) Overlapping fabric by 8 inches where cuts were made and adding at least 2 inches of 3/4 red stone. It look's great and then after 3-weeks I see weeds coming thru the rocks, I figured its just in-between the rocks but it actually came thru the fabric. (And not where any staples were used or where plants are) Now what? I will have to move all rocks and buy fabric at Sams club to put over this fabric? What a waste of time and money. Very upset.

This stuff is great! I built a 30x30 potager garden
This stuff is great! I built a 30x30 potager garden. Laid this down, built the beds, then filled the walkways with rock. Looks beautiful. Very few weeds after thefirst complete summer.

This stuff is SO MUCH BETTER than the stuff you get at the big box ...
This stuff is SO MUCH BETTER than the stuff you get at the big box stores. No comparison. This has a real weave of plastic strips on the surface and the underside is fluffy. I can literally see plants growing underneath the stuff from the big box stores. Almost nothing gets through this stuff. I leave it down year round. Pretty much the only thing that can get through this stuff is the occasional wild onion. I have big gardens and am just not going to spend huge amounts of time weeding the aisles any more so I lay this stuff down in the aisles. I used to cover it with shredded wood bark but that is getting expensive plus it is a lot of work to haul and spread all of those bags or wheelbarrows of mulch so I'm doing some trial runs with just leaving it uncovered year round. It is good against UV rays but I know that the sun will degrade it after a number of years. This stuff is truly the best you can get.

It was easy to unroll and garden staple to the earth
This product needs time to determine its effectivness. I installed it in October as the weed barrier for a playground area. I cleared the grass via spraying the weeds, tilling the earth, and grading with a rake. Then I laid down this fabric. It appeared quite thick and durable. It was easy to unroll and garden staple to the earth. I recommend spending the extra money on stainless steel staples, btw.Cutting was straightforward with a sharp utility knife. I overlapped the material by 12" - the material actually has lines on it to help with that and stapling. Will report back on its effectiveness over time.UPDATE: Made it through lots of rain and opportunities for weeds to come up. Nothing breaking through yet. Will report back in spring.

Probably will save money over its life time.
Used the DeWitt P5 weed cloth as flooring in my greenhouse and nothing has grown through it. The leftover fabric is being used as weed barrier for my potted plants staging area and performing well. I think this is the best homeowner product available in my price range. Don’t believe this product will last 25 years as I’m using it, but I think it might be good for 5 years. I see some of my fellow gardeners using less expensive weed barrier and they are compromised within months and start applying weed killing chemicals. I’m avoiding that. If it lasts 5 years, then what I paid was a bargain.

No weeds so far-saving my sanity!
Our new home came with several large, unattended gardens that have become my nightmare for the last year and a half. After using cheap landscaping fabric from Home Depot and manual pulling, I couldn’t stand it anymore! So I splurged on this thicker stuff and I’m so glad I did. I tested it prior to laying to down by spraying it with the hose and the water does soak through. It is slower than other landscaping fabric, but there is no pooling. It was easy to cut with a box cutter or scissors and the stakes went through it fairly easily with a rubber mallet. I have had it down for about 3 months now and no weeds have come through, so I am extremely delighted. I am happy to pay more money to save me time and frustrating. I will be purchasing the larger size as well for a bigger headache are.
