The first bottle was easily opened , as I opened the second bottle a pin fell out and the corkscrew section came loose. I had to use pliers to grip it and open the second bottle. Wasn’t a king’s ransom price wise but you’d expect a little more than one bottle before it breaks.

Just feels a tad flimsy. But has not failed to open a bottle with a cork with a bit of effort!But buy screw-tops!

I purchased this item over a year ago but haven't written a review for it until now. I used this as a bottle opener for about and month and it was great however, I didn't use the corkscrew. But then my flatmate asked if she could use it to open her bottle of wine. She put it into the cork and the cork bent on first use. Good bottle opener, a bad corkscrew.

I am quite particular about how I open wine bottles and I only ever use waiter's mate corkscrews. I have two "freebies" from mail order wine companies that work very well and I keep in convenient locations at home, and I wanted another, inexpensive one to replace the lost "emergency" one that I used to keep in the car for days out, holidays and camping. This one is not great by comparison.It does work, it does have all the features needed to open wine bottles and remove bottle caps but it is such a shockingly flimsy construction that you do need to be quite gentle using it - especially the corkscrew which is quite wobbly on its pivot and upon first use I noticed was such soft metal that it was starting to uncoil and bend ...maybe that's why they made the point so sharp? The serrated foil cutter doesn't cut the foil but tears into it leaving an unsightly, rough - even sharp - edge. It surprised me that they went to the expense of tooling up a plastic moulding for the underside but cut costs in other places that ruin the tool.I wouldn't buy another and I'm looking to find a replacement for this one ...though it's likely to cost a little more.
