The S-100 steam locomotive was developed in the US by the Davenport Locomotive Works and also built by H. K. Porter and the Vulcan Iron Works. These locomotives were staged in the UK prior to the D-Day invasion in France. They were built as a safeguard; as the US Army had no guarantee that there would be any usable motive power available in France after the Allied invasion. Some of these locomotives also saw domestic service in the US after World War II. The Granite Rock #10 currently resides at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento California and the Albemarle Paper locomotive is owned by the Old Dominion chapter of the HRHS and is located in Richmond Virginia.

A Superb Runner
This is an extremely well detailed locomotive that runs very well. It is one of the best slow running locomotives I've seen, it crawls through turnouts without missing a beat. I am very pleased with this selection and it comes highly recommended from a long time model railroader.
