Great Price and Performance; short life span but worth it
I used to use the Silverstars before the Silverstar Ultras came out. The Ultras are a enhanced, great product, that illuminate the road further and wider whether on the Interstate or country roads. The street signs, reflective paint and strips on the roads really pop out which makes it easier to drive at any speed. I could really tell with these lights the improved visibility over the standard halogen OEM bulbs how much brighter it was. I don't care for fake ultra ultra white (HID) lights look, I care more about how a product illuminates the road. I had some fake HID white bulbs before and couldn't see very well at night especially when it rained even when they cost more, but the Silverstar Ultras are great! Even though they last from 9-12 months, changing the bulbs takes me less than 5 min for both headlights so if you have trouble changing them out you may want to look at longer lasting ones at the expense of dimmer lights. I couldn't justify the price premium on the Piaa Intense White H4 bulbs over these. You will also notice they have a sharp European headlight beam pattern (low on the right and higher on the right hand side like a fat check mark). They are brighter but do not blind other drivers because if they are aimed properly the cut-off pattern really helps.PROS:-buy from Amazon, 40-50% less then auto part stores (~[...] pair vs ~$50 pair). Plus free shipping :-)-keep your receipt and Sylvania may your replace your bulbs if they burn out in less than a year. You will have to contact [...] customer service (make sure you have a receipt)-white and bright light make it well worth the cons-if you have poor night vision they really helpCONS:-may cost 2x more than standard cheap bulbs-will not last as long as the cheap bulbs-the longevity is a big con if you have a hard time to access and change your headlight bulb

Bright!
I recently purchased and installed these bulbs for my vehicle to replace the old ones that weren't performing well. Ive been riding around with these for about a week now and they've been great. Bright and a completely riding experience with them in. Let's hope they hold up for a good long while as they are expected to.

Good lighting
Without getting into lumens, candle power, and all the other numbers that need a meter to test with, these lights are great. I first purchased one bulb for my 1998 Jeep drivers side and it was far superior to the passenger side so I purchased a second one. Granted the OEM lamps where getting old. I liked the lamp so much I purchased the Silver Star equivilant bulb for my 1983 Honda Goldwing motorcycle. When the OEM bulb went out on my 2004 Subaru Forester there was no question that I would replace both lamps with the Silverstar Ultra. I work at night and live in a mountain community in the Catskills and deer are an issue here. The light is a whiter light then stock halogen lamps. The light seems softer on my eye from the drivers seat and have less glare in the falling snow. Objects and the road seem to almost glow and take on a more distinguished presence. They are more exspensive then the OEM lamps and not rated to last as long as OEM bulbs. In my Jeep the OEM lamps lasted 8 years and the Silver Star where still going strong when the Jeep died 8 years later. So for a few dollars more and a slightly higher cost per mile they are worth every penny. They also seem less annoying to on-coming motorist as commented on by my friends, family and my wife when I pass her at night and asked. (This is a small town, very small).

Someone said like a comet..
...and I would concur. I bought these for my wife's Subaru. We live in a rural area of AZ and when there is no moon out here, you can't see your hand at arm's length at night! Worse yet, when it rains, light cast on the road from headlights can be totally "absorbed" like a sponge. Was hesitant at first to buy these because of reported longevity issues. I disconnected the daytime running lights to hopefully get more life out of them. We also make sure to turn the SWITCH off when shutting down at night so they are not unnecessarily switched on when restarting or during daylight driving.Quite a few vehicles nowadays have a headlight auto-off feature when turning of the ignition. The Subaru has this feature, but our newer Xterra does not. With the Subaru, if you leave your headlight switch on as many do, the lights will be turned on when the ignition switch moves through the ON to the START position, then switches them OFF momentarily to start the vehicle and then back on when it is running. This cycles the lights unnecessarily (leaving them on) and can contribute to early failure. The beam these throw is truly amazing. I didn't tell my wife I replaced them and she saw the difference 1st time out. I readjusted to a lower position and as bright as they are, we have never been flashed by oncoming drivers for blinding them. AZ drivers do not hesitate to let you know! They put light on the road where you need it and none where you don't, but that speaks more to adjustment and lens/reflector design.Efforts to preserve them are apparently working because we've had them for a year now (knock on wood). There is almost always a trade-off for increased performance and the package clearly shows reduced life expectancy for these lights. So, no surprises for us here. If I had to replace them every year, my wife is worth it. 4 stars for now; if we still have them this time next year, will consider 5 stars. The Xterra will be the next to get them and they appear to be interchangeable with 99 Super Duty if we felt like swapping them out. (Yes, I can be that frugal.)
