Definitely not a glorified walkthrough.
People who are upset that this "Anatomy of..." series is nothing but a glorified walkthrough are severely missing the entire point. It is an analytical look at the game, from start to finish. It doesn't give you "tips & tricks" or anything of that sort, but rather analyzes each area of the game from a design/concept standpoint. Asking why something is placed where it is, explaining the design philosophy behind each decision the developers made. This book is a wonderful read.

This book does it for me!
It does exactly what it says it does, And I ask for nothing more. Thank you for your honesty and the groovy book!

Cool book, kind of strange. It's like a strategy guide, but more like a design manual.

Detailed, knowledgable analysis of the early Metroid games (and Kid Icarus). Very insightful.

Very rough presentation, unfortunately
Interesting content, but the layout, presentation, and picture quality are cheap, amateurish, or both. Spelling and grammar errors (see pic), thin pages, and faint text are prevalent throughout. It’s not bad per se, but it should be much nicer given that the Zelda and Final Fantasy compendiums cost about as much but are extremely more vivid and professional. Disappointing.
