Realistic and fun
I got this for my son after he saw a real Chinook and became fascinated. This toy is a rare find because it's a true scale model and it's relatively large. (You'll find no shortage of tiny die-cast Chinooks that are so small as to be totally unsatisfying. This is NOT one of them.) Thus, very Montessori. My son and I love the rotating and folding rotors, as well as the cargo ramp that opens and closes. Our one small complaint is that the rotors don't turn smoothly all the way around. They're built such that a small bump on the rotor hub rubs tightly against the model body, and that requires a fair amount of force to overcome. Other than that, it's wonderful and fun.

Cool Gift For A Little Warrior.
When this helicopter first arrived I thought it was made out of plastic until my son unboxed it. I examined it and it is made mostly of diecast metal with some plastic components. It does have a little heft to it. Yes, the propellers are made of plastic so the young ones have to be a little gentle with them but the rest of the helicopter is pretty well built. As for the cargo bay area door being able to open, my sons had no problem opening up. It is a small cargo door so don't expect to wheel any vehicles into it. The door is about 1 1/2" X 1 1/2"

Awesome
Grandson loves the details, sliding doors. It's got some weight. Don't recommend for really young kids, maybe 9 and up as the propellers do seem a little fragile. Other than that, awesome!

Be careful
Problem #1) This is not a durable toy and probably should be for display only. Blades break easily. They are cheap plastic and come malformed and either need to be bent up or down. With a little gentle heat applied, this is do-able, but be careful. The display stand is also pretty fragile, and it's a bit wobbly. It looks great on a shelf and is a decent size. I had a blade break and was able to glue it once. I then had the display stand break, and I ordered a second one since the price is so cheap.Problem #2) The original one I bought had "UNITED STATES ARMY" on the fuel tanks, which is accurate, and the replacement I bought had the US flag on the side, which is not accurate. I don't know if they make them with the Army designation anymore, but if not, it'll keep me from buying another one.Overall, strictly for display, the size and look is pretty darn good for the money. I would never buy this as a toy for a kid... whether they're 7 years old or 50 years old.

Great quality
Kids actually use this as a toy to play with and haven't broke it yet.
