great for the price
perhaps I'm ignorant but one drawback is that it is ever so SLIGHTLY smaller than my last grover jaw harp and therefore considerably harder to play.PERFECT for a kid but a warning to fellow adults even with with long thin fingers it's nearly impossible to play too long without cramping.

Good quality for the price
This is a rhythm instrument. One might even unofficially label this as a percussion instrument. You don't really play notes and songs on this; although, if you developed considerable skill with it, you may be able to sound out some simple melodies. It's not a harmonica afterall. This is for playing beats and rhythms. The soprano jaw harp is smaller than the alto version which is smaller than the tenor harp. It gives a slightly higher tone than the other 2. It's still large enough to hold comfortably. I've noticed Grover color codes these harps (tenor/blue, alto/red, soprano/green) which helps you grab the right one if your moving quickly during a jam session. They're all played the same way. These Grover harps are good quality but need to be cared for like any musical instrument.*Dry them off when your done playing.*Don't pluck too hard (Learn how to get the volume from your mouth and throat)*Store them somewhere that they won't get bent or crushed (not your pocket).

Very nice!!!
After purchasing the Alto Jaw Harp I decided to get the smaller one also. For a few hours I wasen't so sure about it but after a few tweeks & break in time the volume level seemed to get louder.Like it's bigger bro the tone is nice, well made, easy to play.Be carefull you don't bite down too hard or it will rattle & could hit your teeth!!It's inexpensive so don't expect too much, but I like it & I'm not that easy to please lol!!The Alto is easier to play for me(I have a big mouth). With practice I'll get better technique on the Soprano, then I'll get the Tenor!!Buy it you'll like it!! Joe4/26/13...I'm sure volume got louder after a few days of playing. The metel must need to be broken in!! I can't stop playing these things!! Play with TV shows, commercials, music. You can make it sound like Peter Frampton's guitar "do you feel like we do" or Joe Walsh"s "rocky mountain way"!! SO MUCH FUN!!!

Grover Jaw Harp works great and is one of the most fun instruments I've ever played!
I'm so glad I bought this. Within a day of practice I was playing original tunes. I've always loved the sound and concept behind the jaw harp- now i can play one of my own! There's a lot of cheap jaw harps for sale on amazon- I chose this one because it got the best reviews; it seemed that many of the other cheap ones didn't even work (according to the reviews). The jaw harp is fun to play because there's so many possibilities. The player's ability to make shapes out of their mouths and tongue determines the nature of the sound and the different notes- that's a seriously large amount of possibilities. It's also tons of fun.The only downside that's worth mentioning is that sounds can only be produced by positioning the jaw harp very, very delicately. Think of it like a clarinet- you need to be gentle and precise to make any sound at all, as opposed to a guitar, where a simple pluck of the string produces a sound.-Morgan

Cheap!
This thing was made terribly. It didn't last long at all before it broke.

Highly recommended!
This is an excellent jaw harp. These Austrian ones are real musical instruments, not toys like some of the cheaper ones out there. If you've tried to learn the jaw harp but have struggled to get good sound out of a toy store or restaurant jaw harp, try one of these. Your whole paradigm of what a jaw harp sounds like will be changed!I do have perhaps one caution with this harp: As stated above, this is a real instrument, not a toy. These Austrian jaw harps have more sensitive reeds and lighter frames than cheaper harps, which means that they aren't likely to survive abuse by children. If you want a heavy, clunky steel jaw harp for the grandkids, buy the Snoopy harp or one of the other toy ones out there. If you want a great jaw harp that you can play as a serious musical instrument, then this is the one for you.

Fun, and easy to learn
I purchased one for myself and my 10-year old neice, who has some musical talent. It takes a little bit of practice to get the hang of it, but for a simple and easy, inexpensive musical toy I love it. A couple of minutes a day for two weeks and I'm starting to learn to twang out some interesting sounds. Mouth shape and tongue action are what dictate the sounds produced. Will have to check back with the neice soon to see if she's giving it any effort.

Sounds great
It's pretty small but still sounds good to play, I'd recommend buying.

It seems more like a toy than a musical instrument
A very small harp for an adult. Waited for longer than a month. It seems more like a toy than a musical instrument.

Basically Trash.
Barely resonates. Gaps between arms and reed are too wide. Have to push way too much air to get any sound. Get a P.Potkin harp instead for the same price that includes a nice wooden case.

Rubbish, unless you have a shrunken head
Crap, you need a mouth an inch wide to use this.
