DT990s: Time will tell for durability. No change in sound if you do the following:
My DT990s were coming up on being 7 years, almost 8 years old now and needed some re-vitalization. I washed them once, but they quickly became brown-ish and nasty again. The official pads cost upwards of 50-60 bucks. No way! A whole new pair costs ~100 bucks when on sale. This was the perfect solution. Pads are soft, close but not quite to the original material. Time will tell how it holds up over time, but if you wear your cans a lot, these are cheap enough to buy 4-5 pairs and just replace as needed versus the official ones.To avoid any change in sound signature, do the following if you've got Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros:1.) Remove your old pads by yanking the black elastic on edges. might be tough if you've never removed them. Prepare to be grossed out by how much dead skin is underneath your pads.2.) You'll notice the old black felt/fabric is still inside covering the woofers. To remove that and just have these cover the woofer surface, do this: there's a small slit you can get a small flathead screwdriver into, just pry slowly with a bit of force and the plastic ring holding in the woofer will come out. Be sure your woofers don't go swinging.3.) Remove the old black felt (Which will probably be nasty and crumbling), use some canned air to blow out the woofer area and replace the black rings as mentioned above. There should be a small, square insert to help you line up the black plastic woofer-holders.4.) The tough part: stretch the new earpads around the metal rim of the edge of each side. It's easiest to put one headphone on your knee so you can reach around the rim of one side - pinch one side of the stretchy material over the headphone while pulling the other side over (when you're doing it right, you'll feel it get tight/tensioned. Takes some practice, just be patient.)Installation isn't SUPER easy, but took me maybe 10 minutes. Now I've got clean, new feeling headphones!

Great Replacements and Affordable compared to OEM
TL:DR - I’d give these a 4.6 out of 5. Comfortable, affordable, easy to install, look nice too. Not OEM so you won’t get OEM sound. Great replacement for your headphones.I have a 5 year old Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro for reference. They’re comfortable and easy to install and look great too. Due to not being OEM, the sound quality is just a hair off. The mids and highs are just a bit higher, however the lows are very slightly taken away but still there for sure. Also, there is some extra lip that goes around the headphone, so it’s not going to be a snug fit compared to OEM. With these, it’s easy to put on and works perfectly. Overall, these are worth and much more affordable than originals. If you are an audiophile and want to keep everything intact, buy the OEM. If you are simply looking for a replacement, these will do just fine.

Super-comfy and warm pads, no change in sound.
Bought these for girlfriend, she loves them. Soft and warm on cold days outside. She nor I detected any damping of the top-end of the Beyerdynamic headphones. Excellent ear pads.

Cheap, bad sound
No bass at all when using these and no ear seal like the originals. Dont bother, get the original ones. These destroy the sound of your nice headphones. These are made of cheap foam and dont have the airholes the originals have.

Great price, be warned about the change in sound signature.
These pads are really thick and comfy to wear for long sessions and the installation was easy but tricky to get on just right. These pads do change the sound signature substantially to where it sounds like a whole new headphone, I was hopeful that it wouldn't be as extreme but you can get adjusted to it eventually.Cheaper pad replacement option buying this set but be warned about change in sound.

Some quirks, but by far the most cost-effective replacement for your DT-990Pro pads
Compared to the stock/OEM pads, these are both a good deal fluffier (by about 1.5x). The "lip" that goes around the edge of the pads (where you attach them to the headphones proper) is almost twice the length of the stock pads. This makes it absurdly easy to install, but also causes some extra material to pinch under the hinges that connect the cans to the headband. Really not a big issue but I can hear some rubbing due to the looseness when I take my headphones off or adjust them. If this is a big issue for you, I can't see a problem with slicing off a bit of the lip where the hinges meet the lip. There's enough material there that it won't cause a tension/tear issue once the material is missing, especially once it's sitting on the cans.I will say that this did effect the sound profile of my headphones just a tad. Since there's a bit more padding and it definitely feels like different material (although it looks similar), it causes the phones to sit a centimetre or so further off my ears. I expect that this will quickly remedy itself as the padding settles/flattens. Pushing the cans back to roughly where they were before resolves this. I did not however, have this issue with the last OEM replacement pair I got, so I dinged one star there. Again, I want to re-iterate that this definitely will be a temporary problem, but I can imagine that less patient fellow audiophiles out there would not appreciate this as a surprise. All that said, this is just about half the cost of what I assume are the first party or peer-equivalent replacements. I keep my headphones on basically all day long while working, so I wear my pads out pretty quick. I'm extremely happy that after years of buying 35 dollar+ replacements, there are cheaper variants available.Do I recommend these pads? Extremely, highly, fervently. Do I think the discerning audiophile might find some fault with them? Possibly. Should that prevent you from buying these if your pads are basically flat, don't look grey or any near shade, and are starting to smell like your college bunk? Absolutely not. Get these.

Just great, feels good, looks good, easy to install.
It looks great, it feels good, the price is proper, easier to install than DT's default Earpads.I personally like the sound better like this, just get it if you're looking for a reasonably priced replacement.
