This toy is a hit!
This toy is great! We have two Siamese, initially they were attracted to the catnip and layed on it to rub along side it, it activated and each in their turn sprang into the air. :-D Then they played with it. Later, as our female cautiously approached the fish, just as she was reaching for it, our male touched his nose to the tip of her tail startling her. She sprang into the air startling him who in his turn sprang into the air. She came down upsetting a planter which startled her and him in turn. It was a chain reaction of bouncing cats and rattling pots as they both tried to squeeze through the partly open door leading out of the room! If only we could have gotten it on video! We laughed so hard.Meanwhile, our Cocker Spaniel when it activates tries to pick it up and bring it to us. There she is with a wiggling fish in her mouth standing on her hind legs so we'll take it. Other times she catches it and jumps up into the chair with us. Or she lays down with her chin pinning it.All in all, it's a toy that they don't lose interest in. I definitely give it a thumbs up.It is well made and came sealed in a dense plastic bag with the tea bag type package with the catnip, so the soft, sturdy fabric was infused with the catnip smell. I really like that the inner compartment has a lightweight zipper closure.Would I buy for family or friends pets? You bet.

Not for the older, picky cat
My 18 year old cat could not care less about this toy. I thought he would love it. When I received the package, I opened it and immediately charged the battery. The next day, I put it on the floor right in front of him. He looked at it, got up and walked away. I put it in a paper bag. Usually when I put his toys in a paper bag, he loves it.I jiggled the bag. This made the fish start to wiggle and make noise. He looked at the bag and sat on top of it. He seemed really annoyed by the fish. I guess I must have a very particular cat. I am guessing that most cats would love this toy. I am going to give it to my mom. Her cat is really young and very playful.

put this UNDER a blanket or inside of a plastic bag, cats loves that.
My cat was afraid of it at first, which is normal first reaction for my scaredy cat. On day 2, cat decided to check it out after all.HOwever, my genius cat soon grew bored of it, SO i put the fish inside of plastic bags, or pillow cases, or under blankets and THAT entices my cat to pounce on it again and again.IF YOUR CAT GETS BORED OF IT, put it under or inside of something else .This fish is does not flip continuously, which is nice, it only flips for a few moments AFTER the cat or dog touches it. Then it flops all around and makes a small noise, and then, in about a minute, it is still again.I have had a week and I have not yet charged the batteries yet.

Disappointed
This is a durable product and looks just like the picture. My cat enjoyed the fish for day one. I will say the way the fish flops is not nearly as much as shown on videos. At first I assumed the battery was just low or not fully charged but after leaving it on the charger overnight it still flips and flops pretty weak. Disappointed!! As for my cat, he hasn’t really gave it another look. As for the catnip yes it fits neatly in there with battery pack which is well hidden and this is a safe and cool toy if your cat is into catnip. Mine really doesn’t care about it. I had really hoped we would have enjoyed this you more and was so excited when we received it. I am keeping the toy though bc it’s at least cute and I can use it to play with him when I’m on the floor he just doesn’t use it on his own like some things.

Nicer than pictured.
Enjoyed buy one get not so much buy the other cat. Battery charging was easy and lasted for quite a long time.

new cat loves it - older cat isn't too sure yet
This came on Tuesday - I charged it and showed it to the older cat - she wasn't too sure about it - she was left as the only cat 3 weeks prior. So Wednesday came and someone was bringing me a new cat - she saw what she thought was a "dead fish" on the floor - so I didn't make a good impression on that - but the new cat really loves her dead fish.if you rattle the area by the fish it starts to flop -you don't need to actually touch it.it has been a success with the newbie - older cat still isn't sure but then she isn't too sure about having another cat in the house either - got to give her time.

Can doesn't like it
I give it four because my cat hates it, but there's nothing wrong with it and it does exactly what it says it will do. Flop around like crazy when touched lol. The motor is really loud which scares my cat and has kept her away from it even when it's off. I have smothered it in catnip and she still won't go anywhere near it. Our neighbor cat that comes by doesn't like it either. So, it's a hit or miss buy.

Overall, Great Cat Toy!
This toy is very well made. Very high quality. It is much bigger than I expected! It comes in the vacuum sealed package like a real smoked fish at the store! With that said, my cats got startled when the fish started wagging its tail lol I put extra catnip on the outside as well since they weren't smelling the pouch inside. When the catnip kicked in, they started kicking the fish as they bear hugged it. When the tail started wagging, they jumped & ran lol. It was so funny! But, now they're not playing with it. I'm not going to give up though. So my advice to you is that if you have scaredy cats, the tail wagging should be introduced slowly. Maybe let them play with the power off or show them what it does first or something? But like I said, if your cats are okay with that, it's a great toy!
