Great for my travel iron
I'm very happy with this silicone rest. It fits my travel iron and provides a place to rest the iron that is safe. I use my travel iron at quilt retreats. Quilters often share an iron at one table and sometimes the iron is left laying down instead of propped up. So this silicone rest protects the ironing surface. I would recommend this item.

Sensible
I quilt at a friend’s house once a week. Sometimes it’s us; sometimes it’s more. You know how often we iron. This iron rest is travel size to fit my travel iron, and it all fits in my quilting travel bag. I’m not the only one using one. It just makes sense.

Excellent for absorbing heat and holding an iron in place
I have forgotten to turn off my very hot iron overnight and this iron rest did not melt or leave any sticky residue on the bottom of the iron. I bought more for my daughters.

Safety First
I love that this rest is the perfect size for my Dritz travel iron. It seems the description might overstate its heat protection, so I use it moderately. I had an ironing board cover once with some type of engineered fabric that was great for months, and then began melting from heat, so I try to use extra care with these kinds of things. I do not chance leaving a hot iron flat on the rest for long periods of time, but I do leave a hot iron sitting upright on it for several minutes at a time. That has never caused any melting or scorching issues. That said, I would not trust this rest to protect good wood furniture. Weird things happen. At sewing events, the rest adds convenience because my travel ironing-board can be free of the iron when I want to flip it over to its cutting side. I turn off the iron before packing up to allow it to begin to cool. Once everything else is packed, I place the warm-not-hot iron flat on the rest, and slide them together into the iron's pouch. So far, so good.

WORKS WONDERFUL FOR MY QUILTING IRON
Purchased this to have at my quilting table instead of an ironing board. I love the convenience!

smaller then I thought
I should have paid attention to the size. Works for my small travel iron that I keep near my sewing machine, but not with a regular standard size iron.
