Does what it says.
This is an extremely versatile slicer. It helps me with a range of chop-styles i.e. slices, french fries, cubes, smaller cubes, etc. exactly the way it shows on their YouTube videos. The blades are extremely sharp (I've already cut the tip of my finger for not using the safety handle properly). It has brought down my chopping time from 10 mins (at least) to 1/2 a minute (it's that drastic). You might; however, find a li'l messy result with tomatoes. But again, it's in the tomato's nature to be messy, innit??

The product does not match with the image. I had to return as the side button to adjust slicing thickness is missing in actual product.

I'm a big fan of this mandoline
When I tossed the first mandoline I bought into a bag destined for the Good Will, I swore I'd never waste my money on another one. Still, I'll admit, I've been tempted by those uber-expensive models they sell in the mall stores but not willing to take the chance. I don't remember how I ran across this one, but I'm so glad I did. As a vegetarian, I do a lot of chopping, dicing, and slicing. This little treasure has sped up my process and yielded more consistent results despite the fact I thought I'd developed pretty good knife skills over the years. Its main limitation is the maximum thickness of anything you want to cut up. With that limitation, however, you can achieve several thicknesses of slices and every where from a very fine to a fairly coarse dice. The coarse dice requires a different technique, but there are many demos on YouTube that will teach you how to achieve that result and many more uses for this mandoline.I will admit, I haven't had much luck using it in the proper way for carrots, celery, or radishes. You need to stick them in the holder, and they wobble and fall out. I just can't get that to work. I have developed a different way for carrots and celery that works well, but it requires being extremely careful. I hold a stick or two on top of the mandoline and push it back and forth across the blade until I get close to the end. That works very well. You probably shouldn't try it without safety gloves, if at all, but it does work and gives that great uniformity that makes for more even cooking.Ease of cleaning is an important consideration, and this one is designed to be cleaned easily. Maybe not as easy as it looks in those YouTubes, but easy. Mostly you need to rinse it off before food dries on it and check the "V" part of the blade to make sure nothing got stuck there as can happen with softer foods with skins. Compared with the nightmare of my first mandoline, that is a minor consideration.I realized how happy I was with this mandoline when I started to grab it for single-use tasks, like slicing an onion to put on a veggie burger. Hope my review helps you decide where this equipment might be what you are looking for.

Classic Borner
I remember my Mom using her bright orange Borner slicer when i was a kid (some 36 years ago) and when she got a new one as a gift several years ago she gave me the original one that she has had for all that time. After 36 years and who knows how many hundreds (possibly thousands) of pounds of vegetables, it finally came apart a couple of months ago (although it was still razor sharp) so I bought this new one to replace it. Same great quality and razor sharpness. I've used it a couple of times now for a stirfry and a soup and must say that i am impressed with the new style and new settings/functions. I can't wait to see how many years i have this one for and if i will be handing it down to my daughter someday. TIP : DO NOT EVER put in the dishwasher!!! My Moms friend went through several of them and the only thing she did different was put it in the dishwasher. HAND WASH ONLY!! It only takes 10 seconds to wash it off by hand if you rinse it right away. Cheers!!

Absolutely fantastic!
My friends were starting to call me Stubby because of the bandages on my fingers after using my el cheapo mandoline. The day I cut myself three times in 15 minutes was the tipping point. I was done with mandolines. I was going to get a meat slicer! (It made sense at the time.) After spending a few days researching models and stores, I thought of YouTube for meat slicer demonstrations. And somehow ended up watching a video for this mandoline. Holy cow, no wonder I was cutting myself. I could clearly see my technique had been wrong. (Hint: Always try to slice away from yourself, not sideways. You'll have better control.) I went back into the kitchen to the cheap mandoline and actually sliced two oranges without blood, and still ended up with my usual many sloppy slices. I got back on amazon, and chose the less expensive colour (seems different colours have different prices depending on where the moon is.) Today I unwrapped it, gave it a quick rinse, grabbed a potato to make hash browns and in under 15 seconds(!) had demolished one very large tuber into thin strings for frying. A quick rinse to clean and I'm done. Why did it take this long to get a good mandoline, and why did it take this long to know how to use one correctly? No idea but my dehydrated fruit will be uniform and pretty, finally. Check out the YouTube video at youtu.be/GMewYcb3A6A.

Sauerkraut made easy!
I bought this about nine months ago to see if it would help reduce the time and labor for slicing cabbage to make sauerkraut. This turned out to be a good move. I've been making sauerkraut for about 2 years. The first time I used 6 heads of cabbage and sliced with a knife. I tried to slice it as fine as I could and the end result was good. About six months later, I used 14 heads of cabbage to make a larger supply of sauerkraut. Using a knife again, it took me a few hours to slice them up. Again the end results were good. Now, after using the Borner V Power Mandoline V-7000 slicer, my last batch of sauerkraut consisting of 16 heads of cabbage, turned out a lot better than good, probably great. What I discovered using this slicer is that the thinner you can slice the cabbage the better. It makes it easier to extract the liquid from the cabbage after you have added salt and smashed the cabbage down. This slicer makes it easy to make thin slices and I would estimate that it took about half the time to do the job versus me using a knife.Throw in the fact that the end results are better than with using a knife, this slicer is a slam dunk. Now what I mean by better end results is that, the cabbage fermented faster with the thinner slices and you can easily manage to pile it high on a beer brat on a bun, and that's a beautiful thing! Why didn't I give it a 5? This mandoline slices beautifully, but I had to turn it over from time to time to unjam slices of cabbage that got stuck in the outer edges below the cutters. Now I only had to do this about one time per head, but if I hadn't had to do it at all, then we would have had the perfect slicing machine.

Simple and flexible
I've had this mandoline for about 8 years. It's been a great tool: making it a breeze to prepare home baked french fries and noodle bowls full of julienned veggies and paper-thin radish slices for my salads. Clean up is amazingly easy. And I can leave it on the drying rack assembled and locked so no one accidentally touches the blades while putting dishes away.Lately it's not working so well -- the blades have dulled too much to use on anything but softer food (forget about sweet potatoes!), and I don't think it's feasible to sharpen the blade edges. Even so, it was a great find and I don't regret buying it. I am sad to see the price now is nearly 50% higher than it was when I bought it in 2013, but I love it enough I might just buy the same model again as a replacement.
