The device arrived well packaged and upon opening, it looked a high-quality device and gave the following installation instructions: -1. Insert the key into a USB Port for plug and play driver installation – plug and play did not work and so the driver was not installed.2. The solution offered was to visit www.kensington.com/VeriMarkSetup and download the driver. The driver downloaded and installed but did not appear in “Biometric devices” in my Windows 10 Pro V2004 Device Manager. Instead it appeared as “Other devices”.3. The instructions were to “right click the device and browse my computer for driver software”. This was found and the driver installed in “Biometric devices”.4. I then went to “Settings” and “Windows Hello Fingerprint” and successfully completed the setup process including the creation of a PIN number.5. I then rebooted my PC and the login screen appeared offering to login using either a PIN or a Password but no Fingerprint login.6. I have now uninstalled/reinstalled this device three times and the outcome is always failure.I have now returned the device for a full refund.

Kensington should stop using marketing buzz words and phrases and instead focus on a clear description of exactly what the device does and doesn't do, in a way an IT administrator can understand. Even Kensington technical support (via chat) don't seem to understand what each product should do or the difference between them.Verimark IT does not work as a security key. So if you want to authenticate to Azure by plugging in the key, or if you are an administrator and want to login with your domain or AzureAD credentials on multiple company PCs, this does not work. Trying to decipher Kensington's marketing jargon it seems you need the Verimark Guard product instead.This seems to only support Windows 10 Hello for Business. So if you have a laptop without a fingerprint reader, and simply want one-touch biometric login to your laptop, this will be good. (My understanding is Verimark Guard will not work with Hello for Business).Kensington support staff seem to disagree with me and say this will work as a security key, but then they suggested I needed to install Kensington Password Manager for it to work on Windows 10, so they clearly haven't got a clue.The actual fingerprint recognition is very good and it feels like a quality product. Note the serial number will quickly wear off as you insert/remove the key, so if this is important take a photo before you start using it.The device is quite long and in my opinion not suitable for leaving in a laptop that you put into a bag frequently.

Erkennung absolut einwandfrei und schnell - aber...der Stick arbeitet mit "Match-in-Sensor™ Fingerabdruck-Technologie", d.h. er hat exakt 10 Speicherslots für eben 10 registrierte Finger - leider gibt es unter Windows 10 aber keinerlei Möglichkeit, diese vom Stick wieder zu löschen, so dass nach 10 registrierten Fingern Feierabend ist.Mir ist das passiert, da ich diesen Stick an mehreren unterschiedlichen Rechnern eingerichtet habe; nach dem Update auf Windows 10 20H4 waren aber an zwei PCs die Registrierungen weg, so dass Windows Hello erneut Finger registrieren wollte.Das hat dann bei einem PC noch gekappt, seit dem gibt es bei dem Versuch einer erneuten Registrierung aber nur noch eine rote LED am Stick: nun hab ich einen doch eher teuren Scanner mit meinen gespeicherten Fingerabdrücken, den ich aber nicht mehr benutzen kann - eingebaute Sollbruchstelle... zurückschicken mag ich den nun auch nicht mehr, solange meine Daten gespeichert sind.Support vor 10 Tagen telefonisch kontaktiert, keine Reaktion bisher.Das (Synaptics-)Dienstprogramm, das unter Windows 7 wohl noch ein Löschen der Fingerabrücke ermöglicht, tut dies aber nicht unter Windows 10.Schade...

Ich hatte mich wegen der beworbenen Produkteigenschaften für diesen teureren Fingerabdruckscanner entschieden, weil hier mit U2F/FIDO geworben wurde für die Anmeldung an verschiedenen Webdiensten.Laut Anleitung soll das unter Windows ohne extra Treiber funktionieren und es gibt auch keine Zusatzsoftware für Windows 10. Ich habe es jedoch weden bei Gooogle noch bei Facebook geschafft, dass dieser Fingerabdruck Scanner als 2ter Faktor oder Sicherheitsschlüssel erkannt wird.Als Fingerabdruckscanner funktioniert er erstaunlich gut. Die Scanfläche sieht auf den Produktfotos größer aus, als sie ist, aber es ist eher Standard, evtl etwas schmaler als andere Hersteller. Wenn der Scanner aktiv ist, blinkt/leuchtet die LED. Es gibt aber leider nur weißes Licht. Eine mehrfarbige LED mit Grün für erkannt und Rot für nicht erkannt wäre noch sehr praktisch gewesen.Mein bisherigen Fingerabdruckscanner von PQI hat wenigstens grün und rot als Status, aber der installiert nach Windowsupdates oder beim erneuten anstecken immer seine Herstellersoftware mit. Das gefällt mir eher nicht. Auch war die Erkennungsrate eher schlecht.Die Geschwindigkeit von diesem Kensington Leser ist zwar langsamer, dafür erkennt er aber viel zuverlässiger.Insgesamt ist die Verarbeitung und das Gehäuse sehr robust, aber er steht auch ein paar Millimeter länger aus dem USB Slot raus, als die anderen Fingerabdruckscanner.Für den Preis finde ich es etwas etwas zu teuer, zumal auch nicht alle beworbenen Funktionen verfügbar sind.
