It sealed a leak

Don't waste your money.I have been through three. Here are my lessons learned. The little leaves that expand to put pressure on the inside of the pipe are weak. If you install it and it pushes out or if you loosen it and attempt to pull it out at least one will likely break. After the second one blew out from pressure, I reasoned that since the only thing holding it in is friction then I needed to do something to increase friction. The inside of the pipe is fairly smooth. I took a small piece of the same size pipe to a hardware store and found a wire brush that could be forced into the pipe. I bought the wire brush, took it home, pushed it into the pipe in my pool, and then used a wrench to turn it. That roughened the internal surface of the pipe and raised the friction between this device and the inside of the pipe. It lasted several weeks and then blew out with the same mode of failure. I found another device called a "Fitting Saver" that I modified and used. It has about double the friction surface and appears to be working.3 years later: The modified Fitting Saver is still in place and working fine with no problems

Works but needed yo glue in place. Expansion device does not hold device in place when sweep pump is turned on.
