Fast Boil, Quiet and Beautiful to look at
The Dualit Classic Kettle | Polished Stainless Steel with Black Trim arrived in a branded cardboard box. The kettle is beautifully designed and crafted. It boils very quickly and is super quiet (our old one sounded like a tractor!). I love the fact that the lid is a 'pull up' lid not button operated. There are clear cup/litre measurements on each side. The pouring spout is excellent as it does not leave any drip marks. The kettle has a high price point but the quality is worth it...we have a dualit toaster which we are still using after 20+ years.

A good quality kettle built to match the Classic toaster.
I've been using the Dualit Classic Kettle for about a month now and I'm impressed by its performance and design so far.It has a timeless, stainless steel body that gives it a robust feel, like a tool but it also doesn't look bad in the kitchen if you have similar style appliances. The handle is is pretty thick and easy to grip which is useful because this isn't a light kettle. The most impressive part is the non-drip spout which prevents any water from spilling on your countertop, I've not had a kettle like this before, the water pours directly down from the spout which took some getting used to but seems much better than other designs. I have a solid wood worktop so I appreciate not having to wipe up water off the side all the time.Performance-wise, it heats water quickly and quietly. The capacity is decent too. The water level indicator is a bit difficult to see and requires me to hold the kettle up to see where the water level is.I've not had to clean it yet but the bottom surface is flat so it seems like it will be straight forward to clean. The hinge for the lid is metal too, this was where my last kettle broke as it had a plastic hinge which eventually snapped off.I have had the Dualit Classic toaster for a few years and it has never missed a beat so I decided I should get the matching kettle, hopefully it lasts a while because it wasn't cheap. It's supposedly repairable too which is a bonus, I hate constantly replacing kitchen appliances when a simple repair should be possible.

Better late than never.
I’ve had a classic dualit toaster for decades but never got the matching kettle as it seemed rather expensive especially since kettles tend not to last too long in our hard water area. A recent visit to a family member who has just purchased one of these convinced me to finally purchase the kettle too. It has a lovely pour, right to the last drop, unlike my previous dalek-shaped kettle which could not cope with pouring the last drops without dumping hot water all over the worktop. The shape of the spout on this kettle means steam is not jetted up to the underside of my kitchen cabinets and under unit lights. The on/off switch has a nice chunky feel to it and the boil is quiet and not overly long unlike my old kettle which sounds like it is about to go into orbit when boiling. I like that the lid is hinged so I don’t have to find somewhere to put it while filling. I like that the upright design takes up less space on my worktop. I like that it can have the element replaced and that I get to buy a refurbished kettle on Amazon that looks brand new for a lot less money. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and only hope it lasts as long as my wind up toaster.

Good first impressions, but will it last?
Hard to find the perfect kettle these days. All seem to be built cheaply. This kettle is not cheap, it has a heft and look that suggests quality. I bought it to replace our 6 year old Dualit Architect kettle, which was operating perfectly until suddenly the button stopped engaging.Pros:Stainless steel finish looks goodLimited plastic in the boil chamber (only cup display, hinge and filter are plastic)Extremely quiet! Our Dualit Architect was noisy that you couldn't watch TV or have a phone call in our open plan living space when it was on - this kettle is so much better - it really is a whisper boil, totally unintrusive.Having both ml and cups measure has been unexpectedly usefulApparently replaceable heating element (but I'll believe it if/when we see it)Really quick boil especially for two/three cupsCons:Not a fan of the manual pull lid, suspect it'll become loose in future, but haven't been burnt by it yetThe handle has a plastic back bit which can flex sightly and feels cheap, let's the whole kettle down in terms of qualityStill not entirely plastic-free in the boil chamber, which feels like a missed opportunityActivation switch does not feel robust at all, this was the failure point of the Architect so I'll not be surprised if this is first to failDualit promote themselves as a premium quality brand - but they clearly aren't committed to repairability or longevity, only a 1 year guarantee for a kettle of this expense is pathetic. Also the product brochure included with the kettle includes £400 coffee machines which include the description "depending on the failure, we *might* be able to repair this". Really disappointing to see the brand haven't woken up to the need and demand for repairability and reduced environmental waste - I would definitely pay a little more for something I know could be repaired in 10 years from now.Summary: I researched ages to try to find a powerful, reliable, kettle. Something that should last at least as long as our previous 6yr old Dualit. This kettle isn't perfect and let's itself down in a number of silly areas, but we're happy enough with the product so far. The quiet boiling is it's nicest feature from my perspective.Time will tell - I will update this review if it begins to play up.

The best kettle I have ever owned.
1. A side handle prevents scalding from a handle above the filler cap, but this kettle remains easy to lift because of the clever balance and the fact that the lid is water-tight so that the kettle can be accidentally tipped without spilling.2. It is without doubt the quietest kettle and the fastest to boil.3. Very well made and excellent quality, with many exceptional design details.Without doubt, this is the only kettle worth buying despite the high cost - just buy it.
