Love it.
I've had this television for only a few days, so this review is based only on first impressions. I'll update it later if I find cause.I bought this set as an upgrade to my current LG 49UB8500, which I got several years ago as a replacement for my beloved (and, sadly, dead) 50" Samsung Plasma. I was reasonably happy with the LG but wanted something slightly bigger to better fill the space in my entertainment center. The 49" LG, while having practically the same screen size as my Samsung, had a markedly smaller footprint than I had anticipated. I figured that any incremental/incidental improvements in video quality would be added bonuses. Little did I know how great these improvements would be.The contrast, colors, and clarity are outstanding. But it's the black levels that took me totally by surprise. This set can do total, pure black with ease. And I've also noticed very little blooming effects on totally black backgrounds with white lettering (such as those used in the credits of some TV shows). My only concern before clicking the 'Buy Now' button was the lack of an IPS panel; I feared that difference would cause problems with off-center viewing. But I've learned that's not an issue at all. The set looks fine from any seat in my living room. And the non-IPS panel is actually what helps with the improved contrast and black levels. So that actually turned out to be a huge mark in the Plus column.I have not changed any of the default picture settings (because, really, I haven't felt the need) except for the TruMotion setting. I turned that off immediately because I can't stand the 'soap opera' effect. Other than that one thing, I've been using it straight out of the box for several days and am totally happy. I recommend this set without reservation.

Love it!
I've had the TV for a week already. Easy to use, mounted on my way, does so much more and looks great! Very happy!

Some of the negatives I've seen about LGs TVs are related to poor black levels
I just received this TV yesterday so this represents my first impressions. I wanted to give you my thoughts as I know there are very few reviews of this model online.I was attracted to it because it was reasonably priced and had some of LGs higher end features (Color Prime, local dimming). Some of the negatives I've seen about LGs TVs are related to poor black levels. From what I've read this is somewhat endemic to IPS panels. However, I believe that this is one of the few LG models with a VA panel.I am coming from a DLP (Mits WD 60735) that developed the dreaded DLP chip "dots" problem. Now maybe it's because I've been viewing a TV with dots all over it for 6 months and my Mits desperately needed a new lamp, but so far the picture on this thing blows me away. I've done very minor tweaking to the picture (out of the box its overly bright, overly contrasty, and overly saturated). I tried some Netflix 4K content and I felt like I was looking out of a window at real life. It was actually a bit disconcerting!I don't like that motion control stuff that makes motion seem fake (soap opera effect), so I turned that down and/or off. Watched some football highlights and didn't see any artifacts. Haven't assessed viewing angles much but remember I'm coming from a DLP with notoriously horrible viewing angles.Couple other observations:-Web OS seems good though there are a lot of different options/menus/etc so I'll need a bit of time to get completely comfortable.-Magic remote is kinda cool-TV connected to my 5Ghz wireless network (I didn't think this TV did 5Ghz, so that was nice.)-I miss the extra 2" of my DLP (that's what she said). All in all I'm happy--but I had visions of this showing up with a shattered screen so the fact it works has me smitten. Also be aware that I'm comparing this to a 6 year old 1080P rear DLP TV. Will update as time permits.-TV is thin and elegant (I am using it on a stand).

It's a very good tv for the price
It's a very good tv for the price. Excellent as a computer monitor (good response time). One of the best things is the HDR compatibility, at least from a storage device and probably streaming too. The VA panel helps a lot with the dark colors and contrast, and at least for me I don't see any differences in color viewing it from differents angles.
