I recently purchased the Schlage F40 V LAT 622 Latitude Door Lever in Matte Black for my bed and bath, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed. I bought this to use as a temporary (as in for several years use) front door handle for our new (new to us, but actually old) home. The front door area is completely covered so I'm not worried about the elements getting to it. We plan on upgrading our door eventually but we're not sure what kind of door we will be getting yet so I didn't want to put more money into a "fancy" front door handle when I didn't know if it would be compatible with our next door. I just couldn't handle the round brass handle anymore (before and after photo attached). We had already changed out all the locks right when we moved in so this handle was a nice match to our new schlage keyless entry deadbolt. The doorknob was very easy to install, I did it myself in a couple minutes. It comes with clear instructions too if you're new to switching our handles. The hardware updates along with a fresh coat of paint on the front door have really made a huge difference and we'll be much happier living with this door for awhile longer now that it's been refreshed. This handle sits nice and level and feels good in your hand when you open the heavier metal door. We've had no issues with it at all and the finish is even better than I expected. We got it in matte black which I thought would show fingerprints/smudges but it's actually stayed looking very nice and clean and I don't notice marks of any sort on it any sooner than I would on a "normal" color door handle.All in all it looks great, feels great, and works great and we'd highly recommend this lever! We plan on getting more for our home as we gradually update and replace the interior doors as well (they all currently have the same round brass doorknob as well). Great way to give a door a whole new look without spending a whole lot of money.

I received what I believe to be a returned item. Typically I don’t care, as I’d rather take something with a scratch or whatever to save the landfills, but with this I couldn’t help but be upset.I’ll start by saying this is the latest in a long line of door handle changing I’ve done in the past six months. I am extremely proficient at installing door handles. When I tell you. This freakin’ handle. Took me an HOUR to install. You best believe that is like 55 minutes longer than it should have taken.The box I received had no padding, no protective bags, no cardboard dividers, nothing. Just a box with all the parts rollin’ around together. I’ve ordered this exact same handle many times from a handful of other retailers and none of them looked like this mess. As I mentioned, normally it would be fine. But this matte black handle came with the most god awful scratches all over it from the screws and the parts all runnin’ up against each other like it was an….ogre (purposefully misspelled to protect young eyes).Beyond the aesthetic of the piece, it was missing parts and the parts it did have were bent in such a way that it doesn’t lay completely flat. I was able to retro fit some bits from the previous handle to save the hassle of having to return it, but it only functions at 80%, because the strike plate only mostly lines up with the handle.This handle is on a door that is rarely used, so I’m bothered by it but not hindered on a daily basis. My advice to you, the consumer, is if you want this handle, you best make sure your package is unopened. Or at least don’t waste your time installing it if you’re missing pieces.I’ll add down here that this is mainly a review on the storefront. We have these handles (Schlage Latitude Century) on almost all our doors and they look great and operate well. My review on the features will be based on the item I expected, not the crap I received. Can’t take my anger out on a good product.
