Meets my needs for pourover coffee brewing
I bought this scale (not given to me for review) to replace the terrible Ivation scale that I was putting up with before. So far I've been happy with this one. I wanted something more compact for traveling since I take my pourover coffee brewing setup with me everywhere I go. This really hits the spot size-wise for that purpose and it's well-suited in other aspects too. I just returned from 3 weeks in Asia using it twice a day with no probs. It comes with two little trays that can be used to place on top to contain things. The trays fit nicely over the weighing platform (smaller one) and then over the entire scale so it's very compact and space efficient. One thing you should know - the scale will not function properly if you leave the smaller tray on the weighing platform. You must remove both of the clear plastic trays before using. I may toss he smaller of the two as Inhavent used it. The bigger plastic cover that the whole scale fits in has been very useful. I use it to weigh coffee beans and the lip is a good size. 27 grams of beans pour perfectly into the top of my Lido-e hand grinder without spilling over the sides. The buttons feel a tad cheap but so far no functional issues. I guess it's what you expect for the price. Weighing seems accurate. I plan on testing in the future with some precise brass weights. Haven't had time yet.Auto-off - the 3 minute auto off time is a big requirement for me. 3 mins is minimum. My last scale had a 1 minute auto off and this is a pain in the rear for coffee-brewing during the initial bloom time. The box the scale comes in actually said 1 minute auto off if I recall but it's only the backlight that cuts off after a minute. The scale stays on.One time at the very end of my brewing session I noticed the weight start dropping slowly and constantly. I suspect this may have had something to do with the heat from my Hario carafe sitting on it. This has only happened once right after I got the scale.I would purchase this scale again based on my month of experience so far.

Decent for the price
UPDATE 12/1/2016 After almost 6 months of use, I have to lower the rating by one star. It's become difficult to tare. I have to repeatedly push the button and check to make sure that it actually tared. Then, after taring, if I take an item off, and put it back on the scale, it'll have a reading varying a few grams. This is no good for my needs. I have to look for another scale now =/.ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW:I bought this to measure coffee grounds. The first unit looked solid and the measurement agreed with my other kitchen scale. The only problem that I had is that the battery area was defective. There is that metal contact area sticking out which doesn't allow the battery cover to sit flush. This means that the scale is constantly rocking back and forth when you tried to measure. I returned it for another unit. The one with the lighter label was the replacement and this one didn't look quite as nice. The paint looks like it can flake off easily. However the unit has been working well so far. The plastic trays are make of a plastic which feels like it will scratch easily. I love how the scale says "Hello" when you turn it on.

The results were great! It's very precise
As I have been a barista at a coffeeshop, I have realized the difference in the quality of a cup of coffee when one uses a consistent and correct amount of coffee grounds and water. While I get all the free coffee I want at work, I still have a cup at home in the evening and I was starting to notice the quality difference between my morning and evening coffees. So I scoured amazon for reviews on digital scales to use at home and decided on this one. The results were great! It's very precise, measuring to a tenth of a gram. It stays on for about a minute before automatically going to sleep, so it hasn't shut off while measuring the weight of water for an aeropress or pour over. It also comes with a tray to hold coffee beans while measuring their weight. It's a little smaller than I expected, but works great for what I use it for. It's a very reasonable price for the quality of scale it is. It even greets you with "hello" on the digital screen, lol :)Overall, this was a great buy and I am enjoying excellent cups of coffee at home!

Great Little Scale that Can!
ScaleReally love this scale it has a Tare function. It allows you to put a container on the scale and then zero it out so the container isn't included in the measure. The scale also gives multiple selection of weights with the push of a button: ounce, grams, etc. The scale comes in a compact box and includes two clear plastic trays to hold ingredients you are measuring. For storage, one fits over the top of the scale and the scale fits inside the larger one.Pros:Constructed with a high-quality stainless steel platform, this digital kitchen scale is durable and easy to clean.Works great for Pour Over Coffee. This scale's compact size takes up minimal space on your countertop.A vibrant blue back-lit LCD screen makes reading simple, even in low-lighting.Measurements displayed in either Standard or Metric: in 0.1gram/0.01ounce increments. The two accompanying plastic trays offer an additional level of ease, and less cleaning.Cons:NoneVery happy Overall with the function of this scale. Using it for weighing coffee beans for pourovers, espresso pulls etc. Well worth the purchase.

Good coffee scale.
This coffee scale is nearly perfect, and economical too. If you're serious enough about coffee to even be looking at this scale, then you already know you need one.Pros:- Solid construction- Measures to a tenth of a gram- Nice little tray to hold some beans- Very compact and fits in the little coffee area of the kitchen that my wife allows meCons- The bean holding tray could be a bit taller. Can't put a pot's worth of beans in it. More like 20 or so grams - enough for a few cups.Very advantageous to have one of these right next to my burr grinder. I recommend this product.
