Acrylic Artist's Bible (Artist's Bibles) Spiral-bound – January 28, 2009

Great buy for beginners. I'm new to painting, period, so when I went online to find some help all I found were pay to watch tutorials. Pay twenty to learn the colors or to hold a brush and so on. I have to admit but for all of us starving noobs this seems pretty discouraging. So I really needed to find something that would give me that fresh start. I was pretty happy that this book gave me that. Its designed with beginners in mind. So if your an intermediate or expert this book would be useless, but other wise its exactly whats needed. Simple demonstrated examples, worthy information, it was a great read.

I do like this book a lot, but the photos are pixelated and I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the book’s resolution (I read it on my iPad), or the photos were not scanned properly.Everything else was very good!

If you are a beginning painter or have painted for a while, this is a good book to have. It has many tips, techniques and examples of the use of the techniques discussed in the book. As a beginning painter, I keep it on my table and look at it quite a bit. It is not a LARGE SIZED book so it is easy to carry it in a backpack. It also has a unique binding that keeps it open flat and makes it easy to use.

I hesitated to buy this book because of some not so good reviews. Just want to put in my two cents. This book is very useful for me because I did not know ANYTHING about painting. I had no idea how to buy paint, brushes, what paint mediums were, etc, etc etc. So if you're new to acrylics and painting in general, like I am it is very useful. If you know stuff, even a little about painting then maybe you should buy a more advanced book. It does have interesting sections on techniques and color mixing.

This was a Christmas present for my wife who has just started classes for acrylic painting. She loves this book. She has used the book to buy the right paints, equipment and brushes. She takes the book to class and uses the color sections to help get the right shades for her paintings.This book is spiral bound and sturdy. It fits perfectly in he painter's bag and travels with her whenever she paints. As she is developing ideas, she turns to this reference for tips and techniques.I do not always hit the mark with presents for my wife, but this time I hit it out of the park.

The book came clean, great condition & new. I like the ring binder a lot.***THE PRINT IS VERY SMALL.***It's from 2005 so a lot of newer techniques aren't used and majority of materials aren't found in big box stores like Walmart. Some are specific materials. Making it difficult to find in small towns that don't have craft/art stores.

While it doesn't go into enough detail for actual projects I liked it especially for the chapter on mixed media which showed me ideas on mixing acrylic with mediums like oil pastels etc. Just be aware it is an overview not a how to book. As a book on all the possibilities for using acrylics this is great.
