Q: Arms too tight plus size

Not for me, no. I normally would buy an XL in jackets. Based on reviews and my experience with Columbia, they run small. I got the 2X and it fit perfectly. I have room to layer sweaters under it. Very pleased with this jacket, just size up.

Q: I'm approx 44-46 waist would 3x fit? Does one sweat a lot wearing it?

I'm about the same size waist and a 2X fit me fine in the middle, depending how large your arms are they do run on the small side. I put on a long underwear shirt and a flannel and the arms were a little snug, nothing unbearable. As for sweating I haven't had a chance to wear it yet.

This jacket is a longer length than some especially if you order one size larger. The 3X is fairly long - about 27.75 inches from the collarbone. The 2X is about one inch shorter. I like having both sizes. The 2X will serve as a wind and rain jacket for the spring with very few layers underneath, whereas the 3X can even be worn in the winter in a windy beach with layers underneath. I haven’t tested the jacket out in the rain yet, but definitely stops the wind. I have this lightweight jacket in red and I’m loving it in larger size while the weather is still cold. The 2X is a bit snug in the hips.

Q: Is it better to size up, especially if I'll be wearing a jacket underneath?

We recommend to purchase a size up if you are going to wear an under layer.
