Worked amazingly for my lawn reno!
My backyard was mostly weeds. After killing all weeds in my lawn, I waited 4 weeks to begin my lawn renovation. I mowed low, core aerated, spread topsoil and compost, spread grass seed, applied this Scott's Triple Action Starter Fertilizer, covered with peat moss, then began a watering schedule.I can't rave enough! My grass seed grew quickly, and no weeds germinated throughout the growing process. After three mows, my lawn is thick, green, and healthly.I recommend treating weeds with another herbicide product before applying this Scott's Triple Action, as the Mesotione in it acts more as a weed pre emergent and not an herbicide. This is my new favorite lawn seeding product, and it definitely outweighs other starter fertilizers due to it containing Mesotrione. I'd recommend it to anyone renovating their lawn.

The only starter fert I will use
As the title states, this is the only starter fertilizer I will use. For the price, it is unbeatable in my opinion. Whether overseeding or doing a full lawn renovation, the mesotrione (weed preventer) in this is very effective. Depending on your grass type, this will give you a nice, thick, luscious lawn. The nitrogen in here gives it a strong growth rate. If overseeding, you can even pair this with an iron supplement to give you a darker green color too. Unbeatable starter fertilizer

Effective Pre-Emergent but Stressed Desirable Warm Season Grasses
I broadcast this using the recommended rate of application at the time of seeding (June) a buffalograss & blue grama lawn conversion project in southeast Wyoming. It seemed to effectively control the broadleaf weeds for about 2-3 weeks, until after the grass seed germination. I had a little left over from the first treatment, so I applied the remainder at a reduced rate (~1/2 the recommended rate) after six weeks. It caused about 10% of the buffalograss and blue grama seedlings to whiten and appear stressed. This may not be a suitable product to use as a post-emergent treatment for these species.

Outstanding Fertilizer "Scotts Triple Action Built For Seeding" After Planting Seeds
First picture is day one (11-1-2024) when I planted grass seeds and put down the fertilizer built for seeds. All dirt, no growth as you can see.Second picture is about 5-6 days later. The grass is starting to sprout.Third picture is today (11-9-24) only 8 days after planting the seeds and the grass is growing very well.I would say 80% of the growth is from the fertilizer.Another 10% of growth is from putting seed cover (top soil) on top of the seeds to: 1. keep the birds from eating the seeds; 2. helps the seeds grow a little faster; 3. helps the soil maintain moisture. The last 10% of growth is from watering the grass (3) times per day. The seeds need to be maintained in moisture for as long as possible so they can sprout.I planted the same seeds in my front yard, but I didn't use the fertilizer made for seeds, and I think it took a while longer to grow.I will definitely buy more of the Scotts triple action built for seeds fertilizer whenever I need to start another grass project from scratch.I'm very happy with the results. One thing: don't put down too much fertilizer or it will burn the grass. I went back and put down more fertilizer where I thought it needed more, and in those spots the grass is turning white instead of green. It's still growing, but not as fast as in the other areas.Great product!!!

I'll start with 5 stars and then give some updates later.
Overseeded my yard due to grubs wiping it out. Afterwards I spread Scotts Triple Action according to directions. Usually at this time of year, the henbit starts germinating in bare spots all over the place. It's been a month after overseeding and applying Scotts and no signs of any weeds yet. Updates will follow after it's given a chance to do it's thing. 5 stars

Not working
I bought it because it said it kills red clover this is the second bag I used. It does fertilize your grass but it's not killing anything. I even put more then I'm supposed to and the red clover is still growing.
