Works
I wanted a humane way to help with the mice. Poison is slow (and could harm other animals), glue traps are inhumane and regular mouse traps are hit and miss (both in effectiveness and the potential for suffering). This trap kills very fast. I've been next to it when it went off and seconds, when i checked the trap, it was definitely over. Worth the price for sure!

Ineffective on squirrels and fingers, but not birds
How are you going to keep the birds out of it? Some birds like the same food squirrels, rats, and mice do so after I installed this waste of money to kill the squirrels (aka, tree rats) living in my eves and attic, I found a dead bird nearby with a gash on the side of its head.I searched the internet for squirrel traps and Youtube led me to this product and a video showing it luring in a squirrel but, conveniently for the promotion of this 'trap', Youtube has a policy that leads to the censoring of the trap in action, so, I had to assume it was effective on squirrels, but...The squirrels showed no interest in it, despite my best efforts. I watched and read everything I could about putting it to its best use - to no avail. They aren't stupid, so they avoid unfamiliar things like this trap. They didn't like the bait either, when it was available to them for 'free' - no trap. And the bait is very greasy. It doesn't wash off easily at all, even with Dawn dish soap. I found out the hard way.So I took down the trap and put it in my tool shop in a box with random stuff. And, don't ask me how, I reached into that box and accidentally put my finger in the trap. At first I thought I was getting shocked with electricity and jerked away and after a moment to process wth just happened, I inspected my finger to find . . . NO DAMAGE. I had only ever discharged the CO2 cannister once, yet it didn't have the power to leave a mark on my bare finger. How ya gonna kill squirrels and rats with that?!In case you are wondering or having a squirrels-in-your-house problem, we solved it when some branches were removed from a nearby tree that allowed access to the roof. Since the tree belonged to the city, it cost us nothing, unlike this very expensive, non-returnable, useless, bird-maiming piece of plastic waste.BTW, don't put your finger in it! I think if the CO2 was fully charged, it would have gone much worse for me. But consider that the trap was not in use, sitting in my basement for only 3 months or so, and didn't have enough charge to break the skin of my finger.DO NOT BUY!

Great for campers
We leave our 5th wheel camper on site year round. Mice have always been a problem. We tried a thousand dryer sheets which didnāt work at all. We tried the low odor moth balls. Apparently the odor is what keeps the mice at bay cause that didnāt work either. I bought this automatic trap and set it up in the cargo hold where there has always been the most activity. I didnāt use any of the lures, just the bait that goes in the top of the trap. It took a few weeks to establish our first kill. This was the fall of 2022. After the first one it seemed we had established a trail right to the trap. Over the winter we killed 6 mice and last week we discovered we had killed a red squirrel. I canāt imagine the damage that could have caused. We bought the one with the counter and we are 7 for 7 at this point. Very happy with this setup.

Good trap, but broke and Goodnature won't fix it.
I bought the A24 trap in Nov 2020. I saw it in action on a YouTube video and I liked the idea of a repeating trap. Using the supplied bait I did not have much success but after switching to peanut butter and sunflower seeds I started to have more success. Over 2 years I got 20 confirmed kills with this trap and used only 2 cartridges. Recently it broke meaning each kill cost me about $10. I think it broke when a larger animal knocked it off the base and made it dry fire a few times. When I found the trap it was intact but when I checked to see if it had CO2 left, it tore itself in half. I found that the plunger had split in two so when it triggered it wasn't stopped by the spring and broke out the lower housing. I understand that things can break when not used properly (thanks skunk or badger). What is not OK is that I cannot get parts to fix it and Goodnature will not repair it (they offered a 20% discount). All I need is some plastic (lower shroud and plunger) but instead of letting me buy maybe $20 in plastic they want me to spend $160 to replace something that is less than a year out of warranty.

If you can dial it in, itās like magic
I must admit, that reading the reviews, I was a little concerned this thing wouldnāt work. Thinking I was smart enough to figure out the right bait combination I decided to buy it and give It a go.For over four weeks I had zero success. I went to extreme lengths to try and establish a baiting area and used the included paper bait strips and put some of the chocolate bait around various locations to determine if I just had the station in the wrong area. Finally I switched to peanut butter yet still had no success for almost a week. Then, the locally available tree seeds that had been falling earlier and a source of food for the vermin stopped falling and ran out. Then the critters became much more interested in the bait. Finally, last week, the device took out 7 on its first successful day. I was absolutely astounded and confirmed that the device itself works like a charm. I got two more per day for three more days and then a final one a couple days ago and now the herd of vermin appears to be pretty much gone.As others have noted, the bait strategy and location make all the difference. Given the ability of the device to euthanize one, reload and keep going, Iām extremely impressed with it and would recommend this to people willing to do the experimenting with the specifics required to get it dialed in.
