Q: How to keep rain from seeping into the wood (and food)? Mine got moldy in the first 2 rain storms. Has anyone waterproofed this? Otherwise it’s great

Mines gets wet too. The lid also came off. We had to put bigger screws in it to hold it. I clean mine out at least once a month. Also had to replace the plexi glass. I will not buy this kind again.

Q: What about raccoons, opposums, & rats getting to the food?

I have mine mounted about 7 or so feet up in my cherry tree and on the top of my 6 foot high fence post. I have had them there for about 2 months now and I have yet to see any evidence of other animals pilfering the nuts. I check them every night and every morning as we do have a couple rats roaming the neighborhood but so far the nuts are still there in the morning.

Q: Do you sell replacement plexiglass window ?

I am not sure. Blue Jays peck the plexiglass and crack it. Woodpeckers do wonders to it. I got a sheet of plastic from the hardware store and cut it with a glass cutter. There is a slot where it slides in and out.

Q: How do the squirrels get the nuts?

Some squirrels are pretty smart. They open it with their head.. It might take them a bit to get used to it, but they will learn.. My first box, I put a couple peanuts between the lid and box and they learned quite fast.
