One major flaw
My 7 year old loved this set when we first got it. He played with every day, but we soon learned the tabs that hold the pieces together break easily. I first thought he was not being careful, but even when I carefully tried to attach or remove pieces the tabs would break. We tried to email the manufacturer, but got no response. The set can't be put together completely without all of the pieces. I emailed them a second time a little over a month ago and still no response. This is a really fun concept, but this one weakness takes all of the fun out of it. I hope they figure out how to make connections that don't break. The vehicles are well made and really creative.

It’s a great set
I’m a ten year old boy and Me and my friend love it. It’s super fun and interesting! Although it dose not come with the cars. It takes a little while to build but it’s worth it when it’s done!

Great toy but this set is not what you buy first
My 6 yr old adores Rokenbok. We got a few items "used" to try it out initially and have been adding to the collection since. The set listed here is an accessory -- *** you need a starter set with vehicles and the radio control before you buy anything else***. The basic girders/connectors are quite sturdy, but they can break if you try to disassemble them without using the included tool. what breaks are the tiny tabs or "ears" that allow the items to connect, but they are cheap to replace. The vehicles appear bulletproof. I strongly advise that you buy a large set of rechargeable batteries - each vehicle requires 3 or 4 batts. This toy system is flat out awesome - I enjoy playing with it and I am in my 40s, so it's something that parents and kids can enjoy together -- the radio control is very simple and easy to use, and makes the whole experience much more realistic for the kids. You can also have up to 4 controllers so 4 kids can be driving vehicles at the same time, no wires to interfere with the vehicles, and they can switch vehicles with the press of a button. My 3 yrs old has already figured out how to use this. And the building bases are designed to work with LEGO - so you can add LEGO bricks to the structures in certain places. You need a decent amount of space to enjoy having multiple sets operating, like the monorail for instance. I'd say 4x4 is absolute minimum - 4x8 is better if you end up with 3 or 4 accessories and 5 or 6 vehicles. We just have it on a carpeted floor and it works great. You can see some crazy sets on ebay if you want to see what is possible.============================later note (Fall 2012)- rokenbok has converted to an infrared system, to replace the radio control. it's better, but the two types do not mix and match in terms of the vehicles; the building sets are the same and are interchangeable.*****Rokenbok is still selling the old r/c vehicles on amazon, which I find a bit dishonest. I've put a few comments out there on some of these products so amazoners know the difference. The new Infrared system is pretty incredible. big improvement...Rokenbok is not making all the same vehicles for the new infrared (i/r) system, just a few, so I bought a bunch of new i/r "sweepers" and took the guts out and converted our old r/c vehicles to i/r, including the elevator and crane. before you ask, no I don't want to convert yours, but any decent engineering type can do it. the i/r receiver is designed to fit into the old r/c slot -- i.e. the tooling on the vehicles was not changed at all, so the i/r stuff essentially plugs in and you just cut and reattach wires to the pc board, receiver, and motors. works fine.

Confusing rip off
The instructions are horrible and way above the head of the targeted age group. FURTHERMORE, THE BOX SAYS REMOTE CONTOLLED- MAYBE SO, BUT WHILE IT ALSO SAYS VEHICLES NOT INCLUDED- IT DOESN'T SAY- VEHICLES ARE A NECESSARY SEPERATE OPTION TO MAKE IT FUNCTIONAL.Christmas morning was not as happy as it should have been.
