Great activities for combining music and literature!
I love this book and Artie Alameda, the author! I am a retired music teacher who used many activities in this book to teach beat, rhythm, chant, and playing a variety of musical rhythm and Orff instruments. I especially like the activities that combine music and literature. The instrumental parts engage students in the content of the literature. They retain so much more content as they provide musical accompaniment for a favorite story!

and this book has been an excellent resource in getting started
I began using barred instruments in my classroom this year, and this book has been an excellent resource in getting started. My students love the activities, and I love the lack of complaining as they rotate so that everyone has a chance to play every instrument. I love the implementation of literature, the fantastic reproducible flashcards, and the easy step-by-step instructions. Mallet Madness makes my classroom run so smoothly that my classes go so quickly and the students leave having had a very positive experience.

Creativity and Imagination in action
This book of songs, stories and activities is great for kids from Kindergarten up to 6th grade. Drums, Xylophones and other rhythmic instruments are used to create a wonderful array of sound and color while allowing kids to learn and have fun simultaneously. I have used it with Kindergarten through third grade and have found it to be a wonderful tool to teach key musical concepts and at the same time spark the imagination and creativity in new ways. There are lots of activities and loads of fun! I would buy this again--no regrets!!

Does not disappoint!
Love this book and my students do, too! My favorite part is the transition chant and suggestions for instrument layouts. Also, my kids are addicted to Crazy Eights (or crazy fours for my 1st graders)!

Mallet Madness
Artie Almeida is an amazing educator and this book is a wonderful introduction to Orff technique and mallet instruments. Artie gives all kinds of advice from how to set up the instruments in your classroom to wonderful arrangements of Orff music for your students to play. I highly recommend this book and her second book in the series, Mallet Madness Strikes again.
