Just for chair with up and down.
Not all chairs have a standard pin out, but with a screw driver, multi-meter, and a soldering iron, you can make it work for a chair that only has up and down. Will not work for a chair with heat and vibrators and up and down. Kiss. if you plug it in, power it up, and the chair goes one way or the other with no command from the remote, you know you have to get busy with a multi-meter, schematics if you're lucky, the original remote, and soldering iron.

Excellent replacement remote
Works great on my chair. I ordered one as a back up (I have 2 chairs). The original and replacement remotes have a stress relief on them that will wear/break if they aren't taken care of. Once the stress relief breaks, this allows the cable to eventually pull out of the remote or the remote quits working. The originals, after a couple of years of tugging/usage; the stress relief broke, they start showing signs of erratic button operation, one remote was actually warm to the touch. Time will tell if the replacements have similar issues.

Works great despite installation challenges
My sister-in-law is recovering from shoulder surgery in a Macy's recliner with built-in buttons on the side she can't reach. She needed assistance 24/7 to get out of her recliner.I traced the button wiring to a male plug with a pinout that looks like this plug. That's a match: A 5 pin DIN plug has been a standard for decades, used for vintage keyboards and even now for MIDI electronics.I swapped in this remote for the existing button wiring. One could buy a generic 5 pin DIN Y-splitter with straight through wiring (check!) but we didn't. Don't be fooled by overpriced splitters targeting the recliner market, to deliver in weeks. We were careful to route the cable through the chair so that the remote couldn't fall to the floor, out of reach.Installation was not a breeze. I needed to cut plastic flanges from the female port, and trim 1/4" of plastic from the male plug barrel, to get a secure connection. Careful use of a steak knife worked better than any tool one might find in a shop.We carefully watched the chair go full cycle many times, and secured the cable with cable ties so there was strain relief with enough slack to not pull out the plug in use, and so the cable wouldn't get scissor-sliced by the chair. This is "common sense" learned through hard knocks, but a beginner could easily figure out these same challenges with patience.
