Camera filters are expensive
I've been a photographer since 1984, a professional since 1998. I'm astounded at the price increase in camera lens filters. I think it might have to do with the law of supply and demand. Because with digital cameras one does not really need anything but a UV filter. So when I found this yellow filter for my black and white film camera, I was amazed at the price. Then when I received it, I realized I wasn't sacrificing quality. I highly recommend this product.

Great filter, good value, functions properly
Great for black and white film photography. In the past day of shot with a red, orange or very yellow filter. This time I went for a little bit mild yellow and shot a roll of FP4 through it. I got the results back and I am happy to say that this filter works great. It does an excellent job of cutting the Hays, cooling down the skies, and clarifying the picture better overall well not blowing out skin tones. I would say this filter is a minimum must have when shooting black and white film particularly when shooting landscapes or people + landscapes.

mixed results
i bought this yellow filter for a trip out west....montana and wyoming seem to be infected with big puffy white clouds.....i shoot 90% of the time in monotone or b&w....even though i'm told to shoot in raw and covert to b&w....the yellow filter seem to work ok when the clouds were dominant in the sky and not so well when the clouds were in the distance which in the west it seems like everything is...the yellow filter was also suppose to enhance blacks......i didn't notice a big change in dark tones because of the yellow filter..... but i think that is one of those things that would be hard to discern.....i switched over to a polarizing filter which gave me the same results.....its like everything else the results are not 100% equipment based but 100% person behind the equipment based

The only Ansel Adams Book You Need
This book first came out when I was in college. I found a copy in the library, but at $75.00, I could not afford it back then. This one is not perfect, but for a forty-plus year-old book, it suits me fine.

Tiffen filters why not.
I bought Tiffen filters because I have used them before and have had no problems.

Solid item
For the price, this is a very good filter. I don't need to spend top $ for a B&W filter for what I'm doing. This one is fine.

quality is great.
It came as promised and no damage, the function of the filter was as expected on the camera. Could not detect any flaws in the lens, quality is great.

Excellent filter
Will have a review of the results when I get the prints as using for revived Monochrome structures and light work, high contrast, easy to fix, very well packaged and box for storage, it does work on digital I tried it during battery pack check but of course I do not want yellow colour pics and I find digital grey too bland but I can try that again later when I have time. Used on old Canon 50E so super camera set up as that is a lovely machine to use, have taken some colour on that film some while ago. The filter fits a zoom short range Canon I purchased secondhand from LCE who usually give good equipment well serviced and guarantee so that has done about 25 k pictures and should go another 50 k without a service. Good addition to that lens.

Essential for black and white landscape film photography
Well made and robust, I bought this for use on an old camera I found in a local charity shop - paying twice as much for the filter as for the camera! The only slight problem is that the filter rim is too shallow to fit on the camera, requiring a second filter ring to throw it clear of the lens. This is not a fault of this (modern) filter, simply how things change.

Junk.
Bought this in the mistaken belief that Tiffen makes proper filters. They don't. Loss of contrast was unbelievable. Stick to B+W!

Broken on delivery
The glass rattles inside the mount and has a very loose fit, useless

Good filter for B/W photos, packing needs improvement.
Nice filter (49mm). It screwed onto the camera lense easily (turn a 1/4 turn in opposite direction so the groves line up, then turn in the correct direction and tighten. Silly advice, I know, but it might help prevent any 'locking' of the groves or damaging the other filter (if you us a UV filter or camera lense).Packaging... is a different story. The little box it comes in is clearly designed to fit a wide number of len sizes. So, it rattled around a lot. Opening the package, the lens was also dirty looking, possibly from the rubbing of the lens against the inside of the box. After a few minutes of careful cleaning, the lens looked good. On the camera, I noticed no issues. Also, I don't take a lot of black and white pictures, so this lens (and the price) worked well for me. So, overall, happy with the purchase. My other lenses - the ones I use often - are a different brand. If you are looking for a good priced lense for 'now-and-again' usage, run with this one / line.
