Just like I remembered
This is good old Lucky Luke, funny and warm-hearted as ever. It was good to read a new adventure after all these years.

Not as sexist as it's rumoured to be
Not a bad post-Goscinny Lucky Luke. Despite the title, Luke comes nowhere near really getting married here! This new English translation comes with a rather unnecessary introduction warning sensitive readers of the allegedly crude sexism of the story, though this seems like an overstatement. The scenarist Guy Vidal, onetime editor of Pilote magazine, was a very intelligent and politically aware writer, and any apparent misogyny here is clearly in the vein of parodying corny old (gender-related) clichés, much as Goscinny always used to do in Asterix or elsewhere. However, current sensitivities being what they are, it's perhaps not surprising that the newly translated Lucky Luke titles from this publisher have received such limited diffusion in North America -- making fun of cultural stereotypes is a tricky business.

Not for everyone
Not my favourite book, but I thought it was ok. Be aware that it plays a bit on stereotypes directed at women, but being a women myself, I wouldn’t call it misogynistic. Perhaps funnier to older generations than younger generations.
