An afternoon tipple with PROBIOTICS :-)
A Korean friend on Twitter told me about his Makgeolli. He said it was full of healthy bacteria. So, I wanted to try it and happily found this kit on Amazon. The kit provides everything you need for a Mason Jar (or two) of Korean Rice Wine. I was stumped at first, because the directions are for a liter, while all the jars in the US, mostly, are quarts. In order to have whisking room in my jar, I divided the ingredients between 2 wide mouth quart Mason jars. That worked really well, even though I didn't perfectly allot one half of the ingredients.I tasted the wine on day two of fermenting. It was like a wine spritzer because it was so fizzy. On day three it was less bubbly and maybe had a finer flavor.I added some freeze dried strawberries, and that was really quite good.I just wish it were possible to find the Korean mold/leaven to use with yeast that's not in a kit. The kit is expensive to keep making the wine. It's not any different than buying a good bottle of wine, I suppose, but I'm on a major fixed income.

Only 20g of nuruk
Beware, the picture shows the pouch of nuruk containing 100g, but the 7.1oz kit only contains 20g. Not worth the price at all, and very misleading.
