2021 top of the line
As mobile gaming goes in early 2021 this is the top of the line. The 3080 is powered to 135W so games like Cyberpunk 2077 on highest settings with Raytracing ON at 1440p are totally fine. It’s pricey but honestly with shortage of graphic cards these days it feels like a bargain. Because of the power requirements for the graphic card forget about playing demanding games without the brick.Battery life is not great. But for someone buying a gaming laptop battery life shouldn’t be a deciding factor. The 144hz screen is great. Bright and of course responsive. The thermals are good. Yes, the fans (one for the CPU, one for the GPU) will get a workout and be somewhat loud but at no time did I feel a game was throttled because the CPU or GPU had reached the max temp. The selection of ports is fine: 3xUSB3, 1xUSB-C, 1xHDMI, 1xethernet (+proprietary power outlet). The one thing that is not good is the camera. It is a 720p with terrible rendering quality. On Zoom or Skype the digital artefacts are just awful. If you plan to use the laptop for Zoom meetings get yourself an external camera. All in all I am very happy with the purchase. 100% Recommended.

Filled With Powerful Components
I've had this for several months now. It is a powerful computer, but you should know that if you are reading this. The specs are above the reviews, generally. Let's talk about heat.Basic laptop designers rely on throttling to achieve performance that won't brick your system. They design around certain thresholds, cutting power when things get too dicey. Nice, except it also hurts performance. I see consistently better number in benchmarks when turning of Turbo Boost with this PC. It isn't isolated here either. My last PC was similar. With Turbo Boost off the computer doesn't max out and throttle. So, despite the slower clockspeeds generally, I find consistent performance that allows the graphic card to have enough thermal headroom to shine. The GP66 came with a whiny fan that may effect cooling performance eventually, and a chassis that is rather offensive to open (lots o' plastic tabs and remove the entire bottom). Also, of course, opening voids your warranty. With these considerations this is still a strong machine with nice components inside. A liquid smooth screen with good color reproduction that really pops, a 3080 (laptop edition) that is given good wattage to pump your games, but it isn't a masterclass in engineering. It is the bare minimum. You are paying for the components in a basic chassis with expected cooling. Mobile gaming is expensive. Also, the keyboard is fine.4 stars. Good, but not exceptional. I think you are getting what you pay for here. At the time of this review I spent ~$2350 (before tax) on this machine.

A good switch from desktop to laptop
I've only had this for two days so I will update as things change. I was hesitant getting a laptop because I knew they ran hot, could thermal throttle and possibly not even last as long. I had a PC I built before that I was using for gaming/school ect. I built that in 2013 and upgraded to a gtx 1070 in 2017. I felt it was time to upgrade again but wanted something more portable so I can do lan parties with friends again. (I didn't like packing up all the desktop equipment and didn't want to have to try and keep two machines updated) this laptop has so far been perfect. The performance is greatly better than my old desktop, it hasn't gotten above 80°c so far when I've been gaming and has been maintaining a 4-4.4ghz clock speed the whole time. GPU stays even cooler. All in all so far this is a great laptop, and the screen is like butter.

What a difference 5 years make...
I bought this laptop as a replacement for my Acer Predator . As a student that works with neural networks, I needed a quick and rather mobile device. This fits the need and is also a nice gaming rig.Great:Fast !Generally powerful, though I wish the newest intel chip was available or even the AMD.3080 mobile compared to my mobile 980 - amazingFast and nimble, much lighter and fits in the bag.32 gigs of ramNice screenBoots quicklyNot insanely flashy, nice color choices.I can train my Distilbert model in 5 min compared to 30 min in my old rig.Cons:Price, price, price. Damn cryptocurrency for ruining gpu prices.Does not have biometric login (come on its 2021)Underwhelming web cam, come on its 2021 I need 4K.Touch pad feels cheap and could use buttons. No alternatives for expansion beyond nvme (too pricy for 3 terabytes)Lots of bloat ware, but easy fix

Complete Gaming Laptop Solution
This laptop packs quite a punch with a 3080 Laptop GPU, 32 gigs of RAM and a quality i7 processor. The screen is bright and the refresh rate can't be beat. The keyboard is fun with its per key RGB letting you get as creative as you want. I immediately covered the webcam, so no idea how that is but I'm sure its serviceable based on its specs. The laptop doesn't get too hot either. Overall, if you're looking for a fully featured laptop here is a great option.
