I tried 4 traps, this is my favorite!
I had/have wasp, hornets or yellow jackets going into my attic. So I tried traps outside where they are getting in, here are the four I tried... hopefully this will help you decide which is best for your situation. I live in the Northwest though (Western WA), you may have different results depending on where you live. Some traps were great, some where an absolute waste of money:***Rescue Reusable WHY trap:http://www.amazon.com/Rescue-W%C2%B7H%C2%B7Y-Hornets-Yellow-jackets/dp/B001H1GRPI/ref=sr_1_7?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1407612209&sr=1-7'WHY' buy this? Don't, I paid $18 to kill two wasps or yellow jackets. It has a top and bottom trap, they weren't interested in the top trap at all. I saw up to five almost immediately inside the bottom trap, but then I watched them walk right out of the trap. Utterly useless.***Rescue Yellow Jacket Disposable trap (West of the Rockies version) :http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004TBKL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1Works great, after 2 days I have almost 20 caught and killed. You have to supply your own string or wire though, and they were more money at the time of this writing than another solution below. I'd recommend this though depending on the price.***Tanglefoot 300000437 Wasp Bag Trap:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002M2VZZI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1My top choice, it is reusable if you want, just buy more attractant. And at the time I orderd it was about half the cost of the Rescue one above. After 2 days it caught nearly 20 as well. Has it's own wire for hanging, made of hefty plastic that can be reused several times if you want with a 'zip lock' top. I like this one a lot, and it was the cheapest but is made the best.***Victor Poison-Free M370 Yellow Jacket Magnet Disposable Bag Trap:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RNH2NI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1Stay away from this, after 2 days it has caught a grand total of 0

Catches TONS of Wasps!
I have tried just about every wasp/yellowjacket trap available. I buy them locally, as well as online. This particular trap I first bought at our local grocery store. It worked so well that I went back and bought two more. Then I went back and bought their last three. They're now out of stock, so I'm ordering more online right after I write this review. (We have five acres)About ten minutes after I put the first one out, I checked it and it had about 8-10 wasps in it. Every day it had more and more and it's still getting fuller. Each time I put another bag out, the same happens. I now have five bags out and they are all filling up, they look to be packed about 2-3 inches deep with wasps packed tightly together. I'm getting more bags so I can have them evenly dispersed around the useable areas of our property. My two favorite things about this trap is that it's disposable, and it works well, at least in Western Montana where I live.Since I mentioned that I've tried other traps, I'll describe my pros & cons with those:1. Fatal Funnel: These are the yellow things that you insert into the sides of a plastic liter soda bottle. I found these work extremely well with apple juice and sugar, especially later in the summer when wasps are really in their 'sugar frenzy'. Earlier in the year you need to add some kind of protein source to the bottles. The cost on these is so reasonable, that like the bags, they could be considered disposable if you did not want to change out the bottles. The reason these are not my first choice is simple; we don't drink soda, or anything that comes in a liter bottle. So buying those useless products adds to the cost.2. Pic WTRP: This is the clear yellow plastic trap that is reuseable, it has several holes in it. I also found that this one works well during certain times of the year. There are several holes for the wasps/yellowjackets to enter and they cannot find their way out. My main issue with these traps is that they are hard to clean and refill, especially since the shape is not totally straight inside like the Rescue brand traps. That being said, they do work better (for me at least) in catching wasps.3. Rescue Brand re-useable plastic traps: There are a couple of variations of these, and I have both. For some reason, I don't catch near as many with these traps. I don't know if it's the position of the entry holes, or the fact that once inside the wasps occasionally do find their way out. (I have seen this happen). They are easier to clean and reload since the shape is smooth, but still...you do have to clean and reload.4. Rescue brand disposable bag trap: This is the equivalent to the Tanglefoot re-useable bag trap. The difference is that the Tanglefoot has two entry holes, one on each side of the actual bag. The Rescue bag has a funnel entry system on the top of the bag. I thought the Rescue bags worked pretty decently until I used the Tanglefoot. For my area anyway, the Tanglefoot bags catch way more. And there are always a variety of critters in the bag, various wasps, yellowjackets, and even bald face hornets!Besides the difference in entry holes, the other difference I think is that the Tanglefoot bags come with a good sized pouch of attractant. It is a thick liquid that you add to the bag then add water. It seems to work better than the Rescue attractant!Bottom line, I am buying several more of these bags to hang around about a 2 acre portion of my 5 acre property. I hate to kill all these critters, but I am allergic and had a bad experience a couple of years ago. I just hope I'm not attracting wasps from further away into my area!

Best wasp-trap I have ever used!
This is the third type of wasp trap that I have tried in hopes of freeing my backyard from the local paper wasps that set up residence there this year. Nothing else worked - I tried different styles of traps and baits... all of which caught maybe 1-2 wasps total. This trap, however, actually worked! I filled with water to the fill-line, added the liquid lure mixture to the water, swished a little, and hung it on my side fence. Within an hour, 10 of the paper wasps that had been patrolling my grass were drowned in the bag! I couldn't believe it! Now, the captured wasps continue to accumulate. I chose this brand and exact product specifically because of the lure used - Contech utilizes a lure that will NOT attract bees or other beneficial pollinators, only the wasps! The only DOWNSIDE is that it needs to be emptied and have the lure changed about once a week, especially in warmer weather. Otherwise, it begins to smell like the rotted bodies of the caught wasps, and then it only attracts flies and stinks up the yard. In cool weather, however, this is not a problem, and I hope Amazon will start carrying the lure refills soon!Overall, I give this product my highest recommendation. It is easy to use, pesticide-free, and only wasps have been captured, leaving the bees and other flying insects safely in my garden. Thank you so much!
