It definitely helps the ice build up issue and fan noise.
This did fix the ice build up. Was hoping it would also address the ice maker issue, but it seems that these Samsung fridges are just not able to be fully functional. YMMV on the ice-maker, but it works great to fix the ice build up and fan noise. Install is not too bad, just time consuming to de-ice and disassemble.

It fixed my Samsung refrigerator
I ordered this part when my refrigerator fan started making noise. It was inexpensive and I thought that I would replace it while replacing the fan. Before I got it installed, the refrigerator stopped working. It turned out that the old defrosting element had gone out and ice buildup was causing the fan noise. I installed this defrosting element and a new fan and the refrigerator works perfectly now.It turned out to be fairly easy to install the parts and there are a lot of good YouTube videos showing you how to do it.

Does it's job, be aware that your freezing up may not Just be because of this part.
This does it's job, heating up when told to, just fine. DO be aware, just replacing this may NOT fix your problem. First, make sure you see if your defrost coil is even broken. Turn on forced-defrost mode, see if it gets hot. Do the same when you install this. That's it, it warms up, it works. However, that's not going to stop freezing up on fridges like my dang samsung. The drain tube at the bottom needs a longer piece to make it actually drain. I also added a secondary heating element that goes up where the sensor is to make sure That gets defrosted, and moved the heat sensor away from the heating coil. You see, my defrost coil worked fine, but up top a block of ice would form around the thermostat, so the fridge thought it was always too cold, and didn't get any cooling, while ice kept building up because the water couldn't drain out the frozen drain tube.In short, don't think you'll fix every problem by slapping in a new coil, your fridge may have other stupid design issues, look that up thoroughly, because emptying everything out is a total pain, make sure you do all necessary while you're back there, and save yourself the trouble and money of replacing a fridge unnecessarily :)
