I don't consider something a liquid to drink if it lacks ice. This machine works great and I love it dearly. I just was tortuted by a more expense NewAir Unit that ran 10 days, then it eventual replacement that was "Refurbished" to which I objected but got anyway. After the "runaround circuit of misery" by NewAir? The eventual Refurb "New Unit" arrived D.O.A. It turned on but the arms would not turn just like the junk unit I bought new. I finally bought this "Igloo- The Wirecutter Recommendation". I LOVE IT!!!It just keeps WORKING AND WORKING CRANKING OUT REALLY NICE ICE. Buy THIS ONE. Please read their EXCELLENT User's Manual. It's highly informative: tells you what to expect, troubleshooting tips, how to use the self-cleaning (easy) feature. It does take a very few minutes of no sounds before you hear it working this is normal. A tip I received from people experienced in buying ice machines: Get the extended warranty. I bought it for 3 years. I realized what a bargain and convenience this unit was compared to the cost and hauling of bagged ice. This wonderful machine also weighs 1/3 of the NewAir garbage. BUY THIS ONE!Update 2 years later: I bought this 12/21. Have used it 24/7 365 to perfection! Now close to two years later it malfunctioned and stopped making ice. The "people in the know" who said "always buy an extended warranty on an ice-maker were right! The warranty people are picking up the device from my home tomorrow for free and issuing me an Amazon credit for the full price to buy a new one. Honestly? Even for the time it worked perfectly non-stop it was worth the $145 or so I paid for it even if I wasn't getting a new one. The dependability and non-stop availability of ice nonstop without having to spend a cent on a bag and lug it around, then have it take precious space in. my freezer was divine.I am left with one confusion: My machine is the "Original Aqua (it might mention the arm) now at $172.00 (approx) I can pay the difference. But the page pulls up the $99 unit "Aqua Arm" or "with Aqua Arm." I would rather pay less, but in reading the reviews they were better for the more expensive unit I had, and the model numbers are similar but different: It is ICEB26HNAQ vs IGLICEB26HNAQ (Higher Price vs Lower Price) but I don't want to be a dummy and pay more if I don't need to, so I'll check with Igloo first comparing motors and here comparing dimensions. I don't want to screw up getting a machine that delivered beyond my wildest dreams because cash is tight. I retried the NewAir junk. It still never worked. I hate that company for charging more, delivering a dud and replacing it with a dud. They robbed me of about $200.00 and tortured me. Never had a functional machine. Stay away from New Air, they are thieves that make broken machines and run an unethical operation. I will bring this up every chance I get as I've never bought and been stuck and replaced and stuck with a lemon buying from ANY company. New Air are "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" as the song goes and are the more expensive choice! They cannot even begun to be compared to Igloo!

Excellent.
Very good ice maker. Makes uniform and dense ice cubes. Easy to use and the retro green color adds a comfortable brightness to our kitchen decor. A wider variety of color choices for customers would be a sales-boosting factor, in my opinion. I would have preferred a pastel yellow, also a retro color. The price is quite reasonable for this quality ice maker.

Wish it produced nugget ice but for the price this is OK
A smallish ice maker that sits on the counter without overwhelming it. It produces pellet sized ice with a hole in the middle. I typically turn it on late morning to get the ice maker going and turn it off in the evening. Any left over ice melts overnight into the water reservoir for use the next day. I initially had it inside a cabinet with a closed door but this did not allow enough heat rejection, so reverted to sliding it out of the cabinet during operation. The “ice full” and “add water” sensors shuts down the unit. The amount of ice is sufficient for our family size of two. Noise fits in with our other whirring kitchen products and gets tuned out quickly. The loudest sound it makes is when ice is ejected into the ice bin. For the most part it is off during day after it fills with ice. Wish it was nugget ice, but for the price this was a good compromise. Lots of reviews from many different kinds of ice makers of this kind that failure is an option after 1-2 years, so the price helps cushion this event should it happen.

Broken Samsung ice maker, Igloo ice maker to the rescue!
Well it started about three months ago when the ice maker to my SAMSUNG fridge just died. Of course it was out of warranty so that’s when things break with this company. Same thing happened to our oven, when the SAMSUNG oven’s computer overheated. Leave to SAMSUNG to design a computer chip to not be insulated from the heat of all things an oven? Ok enough bagging on Samsung. So like i said the ice maker in the fridge stopped working. We tried to reset it by going on YouTube to see what to do. No luck. We called them to see how much it would be to get it fixed, that was just too much. So why not do what everyone else does, go buy another single use product, an ice maker from Igloo. And it has been the most used thing in the kitchen so far. We use it everyday now, since it’s summer and hot. My wife loves ice and this ice maker does not disappoint, unlike the samsung products we have.I will say it is not quiet in the least. But It does make a good amount of ice in a day, supposedly 24 pounds of it. Easy to use and pretty quick to make a batch of ice, 8-12 minutes, that’s pretty fast considering the actual thing you spend thousands of dollars to make use isn’t working any more. Thanks samsung! Thanks for nothing! Ok i think I’m done with my rant. But this igloo ice maker is quite the machine. Fast and nice ice drops come out, even has a nice reservoir for the ice. And if you don’t use them up they just melt back, and drip back into the water collection area to be remade into ice drops. My wife suggests making the smaller sized ones. They are faster and for some reason don’t stick as much as the large ones. The large ones make a big clump in the ice holder.

Just stopped working
I have had this product a year and half now. Its quiet when running, except for the ice drop. The ice is still pretty wet when done being made. The basket for the ice is rather small and when that is filled up, it stops. It has worked just fine...until this month. It keeps showing "Ice full" even when it is empty! It won't make ice any more. I don't understand what is happening with it. Guessing its time to but a new one. That stinks cause they are really cheap. I really had hoped it would last longer.

Compact, Looks nice and works well
We have an ice maker already by another brand. We bought this one for our seasonal property.Pros:-small and compact, much easier to empty excess water.-handle on it, so it can moved easily-green retro colour is attractive-works as expectedCons:-The buttons are confusing. We usually just unplug it to even turn it off.-We try to press power, hold the power button and it does not want to turn off.-Would probably need to access instructions every time to do something with the buttons.

Less than 2yrs old
Loved it at first but now having full ice lights but is actually empty. Tried cleaning sensors with wet microfibre cloth, only ran for about two more weeks and now it will not pass it’s automatic self checks. Not functional and less than 2 years old, original price was $249 very expensive way to make ice cubes. Would not recommend this.

drain plug inconveniently placed
We got this to replace our last ice maker (Frigidaire/Igloo ICE103) which we used a lot over the last 4 years -- I thought it was the same size, but it is actually smaller which I'm sure will be fine... I liked the idea that it had a cleaning function but it still requires manual draining -- but while our last machine has a drain in the side (with a screw-on cap and a rubber plug under it -- so two steps to get it open) this one is rather inconveniently placed on the underside of the machine! And the instructions don't actually explain how to get the plug out - nor that it is just one piece and as soon as it's out the contents will come splashing out! Since I had to clean the machine before using it - the experience was messier than I expected.
