This custard just a great find you don’t have to keep it in the fridge until you use it has a long shelf life while in use creamy taste of vanillaIt’s soya which I have used for years so deliciously tasting highly recommend

Easy to use custard substitute.
If I went on ‘Dessert Island Discs’ my luxury item would probably be custard. I loved it as a kid and have never wavered since. So, asking me to try this ready-made custard was a most welcome. I’m a vegetarian but not a vegan, so dairy is okay with me. However, if I can avoid dairy then I’m quite happy.This Alpro vanilla custard comes in 8 x 525g cartons. That’s about 500ml per carton. The carton has an easy-to-use screw top. This custard is made from soya. I already use soya milk for most things as it helps the cholesterol levels. It can be heated in a saucepan or decanted into a microwaveable dish and microwaved for around 2 minutes at 800W.To be honest, I was a little disappointed with this custard. It’s a little bit too runny for my liking. I expected the vanilla to perhaps swamp the true custard taste, but I was wrong. The vanilla flavour is quite weak but sadly, so is the custard taste. I’m not saying it’s awful, in fact it is still nice and if I was a vegan, I would definitely use it.Overall, easy to use custard substitute. I hope that helps.
