Fantastic waffles
Update: After eating these waffles a few times I began wishing I had bought a "regular" waffle maker....so the waffles would be thinner. Belgian waffles are very large and thick, and more difficult to re-heat (I can't just plunk them in the toaster) and take more room to store in the freezer. However, I easily solved the reheating problem. I take them out of the freezer to thaw for a few minutes, then I preheat my Panini press (I have a Breville Panini Duo which is my most often used kitchen appliance) just lay the segments in there, close the lid, and set a timer for about 4 minutes. I heat them for as long as it takes until they are nice and hot, crispy on the outside...and it flattens them! I LOVE that....makes them easier to eat, in my opinion, and they are incredible tasting after being reheated and crisped up in that Panini press. And here is something NOT to do. After my first batch of waffles had been really successful, I decided to try my favorite muffin mix (from a box) and see how it did in the waffle maker. Big mistake. Huge. Although the waffle muffins were good tasting, they were a MESS. And the mess stuck all over my waffle maker. It is extremely difficult to clean all of those nooks and crannies, and I was sure I had ruined the finish, even though it looked fine. But next waffle batch came out clean and easy as the first one, so no worries.Another thing I want to mention. I had called customer service to ask about the issue of seasoning the waffle maker before the first use. It says "use cooking oil", but all I had was olive oil. One of the people in the "food experimentation" division called me back in a few days (long after I had decided not to season it at all) and told me I was fine to not season it, but if it started sticking in the future, spraying on olive oil would work just fine.Original review:I have not had waffles in years. I don't tend to eat out much, and breakfast for me needs to be tasty AND fiber rich. Restaurant waffles certainly would do the trick taste-wise....but normally not fiber-wise. I was given an amazon gift card for my birthday and chose this waffle maker (thank you so much to the guy who put up the video about it.) I received it today, and used it this evening. I made the whole-grain recipe from the little booklet (it only comes with half a dozen recipes.) It included some whole wheat flour and some instant oats. I added a couple of tablespoons of fiber, as well as the same amount of wheat bran, for some added nutrition. I did not adjust any of the quantities of dries or fluids, just added these items into the dry mix. I used olive oil as the oil (I only ever use olive oil in baking and eating) and I did NOT season the machine, because I read that you shouldn't use olive oil for that, nor PAM spray. So I didn't really know how it would all turn out, but the picture I am posting will show you my very first waffle. It came out completely clean and easily. The remaining three turned out just the same. I should add...I wasn't sure if I would use the timer, but it is ultra convenient and simple. I preheated the machine, it took about 4 minutes, poured in a cup of my batter, flipped the thing over, pressed the time button 3 times (for three minutes) and that was it. When the timer beeped, at three minutes, the waffle was perfectly done, as were the three which followed. These waffles are SO big. My husband and I shared ONE. Then we couldn't resist having another quarter each. Some of the remaining will go in the freezer, and some will go in the fridge for breakfast tomorrow. For breakfast I will reheat the waffles in my Breville Panini Duo, which has become my "oven replacement" for reheating such things (it does a fantastic job on pancakes which have been frozen and thawed....leftover pizza...etc. Oh...did I mention....the waffles were incredible. Absolutely wonderful to eat!

Finally, a waffle iron that meets my expectations
This is hands down, the best electric waffle iron I have ever used in my 73 years. Over the years, I have owned several waffle irons. I recently purchased and returned a Black and Decker 3 in 1. It looked and felt cheaply made. The no-stick coating on the removable plates was scratched and overall it made lousy waffles. This appliance, on the other hand, looks, feels, and cooks like a quality product. The waffles come out crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. They are also a good-sized waffle, easily large enough for two people to share one while the next one cooks. It heats up fast. The light comes while heating and cycles off when the appliance is up to temperature; That does not mean your waffle is done however. It also has a timer that is independent of the cooking function. It is just a timer. The timer increments by 1 minute with each button press. When you start the next waffle, you must reset the timer. Not a big deal. I truly enjoy cooking waffles with this appliance.I am sensitive to wheat. Instead, I use King Arthur gluten-free 1 to 1 flour substitute. Here is the outline of my gluten-free waffle batter: Put all ingredients into a high power blender, I use a vita-mix.1. ~ 3/4 cup of raw oatmeal 2. a generous scoop of whey protein powder 3. a dash of salt -1/4 tsp? maybe 4. half teaspoon of baking soda 5. 1 teaspoon of baking powder 5. two eggs 6. 1 or 2 tsp of butter 7. almond milk (about 1 cup) THEN, Whirl everything up. Pour that mixture into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Next, add flour, a scoop at a time (my scoop is 1/4 cup), and stir with a fork until mixed. Keep adding flour until the batter is too thick to pour. Next, I put 3 (1/4 cup ) scoops into the center of the iron, flip it, and set the timer for 4 to 5 minutes. These waffles are reasonably healthy and taste really good.I liked the breakfast waffles so much, tried an experiment for lunch. I started with the basic recipe above and used a food processor to chop some sweet onions, carrots, and cauliflower into coarse particles and added this mixture pulse about 1/2 to 3/4 cup grated cheese to the batter. These savory waffles made a delicious lunch by themselves. However, then can be split in half (slide knife between the top and bottom layer) and used as sandwich bread.EnjoyUpdate: the non-stick truly works. Do not use cooking spray!!! Spray quickly builds up and becomes sticky. I tried two new variations today.1. Hash brown yam. Use a food processor to grate the yam. Add two lightly beaten eggs, a tablespoon of flour, some salt & pepper, and a generous pat if melted butter. Mix together well with a fork. Spread about 1/2 cup of mixture onto to the iron and cook approximately 10 minutes. The hot waffle was a little too loose to lift out, so I opened the flip, put a plate between the 2 sides and flipped the waffle onto the plate. Perfect, no sticking and the waffle was delicious.2. Next, I tried making brownies from a store mix. Instead of 2/3 cups of vegetable oil I used 1/3 stick of melted butter. Cook for about 5 - 6 minutes and flip onto a plate then transfer to a cooling rack. Fast, simple, and easy. They were perfect. Crunchy crust and soft center. The non-stick surface truly is non-stick. I repeat, don't gum your iron up with cooking spray. So far, a little oil or butter in the batter instead of spray is working great.

Makes thick crispy fluffy waffles perfect every time.
Was extremely surprised and happy with how well this works. No sticking. Perfect crispy fluffy waffles. Not thin eggo type waffles, thick and deep waffles like you would get in a restaurant.Note the timer on this thing sucks, and thankfully has absolutely no bearing on cooking and no interaction with the heating or temperature of the waffle maker. I don’t even use it and they should probably remove it from the machine. If the timer was required for this to work, I probably would have returned the machine. So glad it doesn’t even need the timer turned on to work and OK with…the waffles are that good, and I prefer one less fiddly thing to go wrong with the machine or cooking. This machine has 1 temperature setting, pre-dialled in and perfect. As a simple waffle iron - plug in, it heats up, you use it - I can’t imagine anything working better or more simply than this.My usage:Follow box mix recipe for waffles, I have used several they all work. Don’t forget to add the correct amount of oil to the batter, as per box instructions.. Don’t grease the machine at all. Zero grease on the machine ever.Preheat until the light goes out.Pour batter, if it’s too thick or unevenly poured, tilt the machine slightly until it’s evenly distributed. The large cool handles are perfect for this.Close and flip. Flip again after 2 minutes. 4 minutes 30 seconds total cook time seems perfect. Don’t have to wash the machine or even wipe it down after, nothing sticks they just come right out.

Very decent waffles
I like this machine so far. Makes very decent begian waffles. Heat is quite evenly distributed. It doesn't have a great timer but that's easily solved with a timer on my phone. Love that it is pretty compact for storage, although I wished the latch is more snug. I used about 1 cup mix for a waffle (not the picture). Now can someone please recommend a really light and crispy waffle premix? I used Pancake premix and it's too doughy.
