The Ministar5 from (No Suggestions) is the latest and brightest commercially available upgrade for Maglite flashlights using 2-3 C or d cells, outputting up to 200 lumens at the emitter. With the Maglite's excellent reflector, this upgrade results in an output and throw that exceeds almost any LED flashlight on the market today and is, of course, far brighter and more durable than the bulb it replaces.

Brighter than older Mag-lite® Incandescent, Not as Good as Genuine LED MAGLITE®
This TerraLUX bulb fit well in my 2D cell Mag-lite®. The light is brighter than the original bulb. Compared with a genuine Mag-Lite® LED flashlight, there is less light and a less useful beam pattern.Mag-lite® sells a "Magnum Star II Xenon" bulb on their web site for $4.95 US, which is much less than the TerraLUX with shipping included from Amazon. It looks like an LED upgrade, however their site doesn't indicate whether it is or is not.Defocusing the beam of either this bulb or the original incandescent bulb results in a significant dark spot. At distance, this bulb cannot make as large a bright area as the original bulbs, however the dimmer outer circle is nearly always larger.Original bulb beam qualty: Good at distance, but weak compared to LEDTerraLUX bulb beam quality: Acceptable beam shape at distance, twice as bright as incandescentNew Mag-Lite® beam quality: Best shape, best alignment, best brightnessThe TerraLUX definitely brought one Mag-Lite® back to life, with more output than its original bulb. Considering the cost, availability, beam quality and brightness, the TerraLUX is not the greatest value, but it beats having a non-functioning or incandescent flashlight.I'll be trying a different product next time to get a better beam pattern and a bit more light.Photos:All flashlights genuine MAGLIGHT® 2D cell, with fresh batteries, same distance from white wall. Each focused optimally to achieve either largest full bright spot, or largest bright spot with some diffusion but minimal black spot in center.Left: Late model OEM Genuine MAGLITE®Center: TerraLUX by LightstarRight: Older OEM Genuine incandescent

Very Impressed!
Having become accustomed to the brightness of my other LED flashlights I was shocked at how dim my old 2 D cell Maglite was. I changed the batteries believing that was the problem with no improvement. I checked with Maglite and they do not have a replacement LED available. They instead offered to give me credit on my old Maglite if I traded it in for a new LED model. The price was a bit steep and my old light is in perfect shape except for the disappointing brightness. I ordered this LED replacement and am very impressed. It fit perfectly and was simple to swap out. The brightness is beyond expectations. I highly recommend this product.

Did not fit...
This DID NOT fit in my Mag-Lite 3 d cell flashlight! The replacement bulb (led) was much wider than the stock bulb and the retaining collar would NOT screw onto the bulb socket... meaning the replacement bulb would not pass thru the hole in the retaining collar...

Great for annoying the neighborhood!!
I'm not sure how much power the LED drains, but the light output is amazing! I got my maglite from a thrift store and after replacing the batteries realized the bulb was dead. It's definitely not dead anymore, and the installation was a breeze. The pictures depict the LED at different levels of focus and distance. I'd gauge the distance from where I was standing to my garage at about 20ish yards, and I could see my garage very clearly. The room I was in was pitch black, the maglite was the only light source.I think I could wake up the neighbors with this puppy. Best impulse purchase ever!

Make sure the bulb being replaced has a collar, not prongs.
I bought this for a 7 years old two C cell Maglite to replace the bulb it came with, a PR2. Easy to install. Unscrew bulb collar, pull out collar and bulb, remove bulb from collar, put new LED light in collar, drop it in where the bulb was, screw it in. The end. The flashlight with the LED was much brighter (with the same batteries) than the bulb that came with it. The package says for 2 or 3 C or D cell Maglite, only so it may or may not work in other brands of flashlights.

You dont always get what you pay for.
Purchased 2 of these for two maglites, 1 worked flawlessly and the second one did not want to work at first. After messing around with this bulb for over a half hour this bulb finally started to work. The Maglite that the bulb went into was a very new excellent condition flashlight, just a replacement for the original bulb that was still working. These bulbs are made in China and are a little more expensive tha others on Amazon and i expected a better product.

Almost perfect
Produces good light but evidently it is not a perfect fitting replacement for incandescent Maglite bulbs as it cuts out at certain light focusing positions on my triple D-cell Maglite. For this reason I prefer a similar LED light made by ABN. ABN Maglite Flashlight Replacement Conversion Kit Upgrade Bulb, LED D and C 2-3 Cell 220 Lumens of Bright White Light

Mine was junk
Mine was junk - no brighter then the existing halogen bulb. While it was returned for credit and another brand purchased. Be aware that this is a fairly common type bulb, costing from 3 to 10, bucks and is a P13.5S flash light LED bulb with the major difference being the required operating voltage.
