Thai Chess (Makruk) Plastic with Traditional White and Black (1 Box)

I'm exploring evolutions of the Chess family because of my love for International Chess. This includes Xiàngqí, Shogi, and Janggi. Each of these has its own distinct character, differing enough from their Western cousin that—to me—makes the effort needed to learn them well worth it. Because of this attractive, affordable set, I can now add Makruk to the list. These are serviceable, solid pieces, made of strong, hard plastic. The black ones are indeed black as ink, and the white ones are a lovely ivory color. It's nice this set comes with a paper board, but Makruk plays just fine on a mid-sized Western chess board, and I have plenty of those. Shipping does take a bit longer, but mine arrived on the early side of the projected time window. I'm very happy with the purchase.

The pieces are a nice size and sturdy plastic. Board is folding paper- a little flimsy buy OK.
