Merrick38563 Grain Free Dry Dog Food Real Chicken & Sweet Potato Recipe - 22 Lb Bag

Dogfood itself is great, I'm buying it for 1.5 years already. But after I was not able to find old 25 pound bags I had to order NEW packaging. It is 3 pounds less for the same price, and all my last 3 ordered bags came without the zip lock on the top!!! Super disappointed about the zipper - still reusing old 25 pound bag since I want to be able to close it tight after each feeding, but super annoyed by the inconvinience.

This is ridiculously expensive dog food. For the price the dog should think it is the canine equivalent of catnip. But the expected reception was rejected after the first few feedings. I am personally annoyed that all these dog foods have to put in fish oil too. The dogs get sick and tired of it and eventually they smell of it. I think the manufacturers should eat the stuff and decide they like the taste of the varieties they sell before shipping it out to the public. After all we look at labels and ingredients, where we actually cannot determine the true quality of the maker's choices. People say "oh it is the best" but marketing is really at work here. This dog food failed at my house. It smells poorly and the dogs don't want it.. even with cheese or meat juices, or other garnishes to entice them. If I can't bribe the dog to eat it there is a big problem.

First of all I love that I can read the ingredients and they are exactly what they are expected to be, if you get chicken, ingredient will be chicken, no such thing as "chicken flour" or other substitutions.I can first hand tell you how different my boy's fur and stools got after I switched into Merricks after feeding him Beneful his entire life, and he loved it.My Link was not a big fan of Turkey, but loves Chicken and Beef.You get the exact quality you are paying for and it's worth every penny for your kid.

My dog has been eating this food for the last 6 years. She's 7 now and her first year she was on kibble. I switched her over to Merrick Chicken and Sweet Potato after a year when she was ready for adult food and I did notice her fur became much softer and it has been that way ever since. People have even mentioned how soft her coat is and I know it's due to her diet. No complaints here.

Is it possible to get a bad batch?? I’ve ordered this a few time with no problem, but the last bag I had, caused my dog to break out, and he stopped eating it after three or four days and I didn’t understand why. Then I noticed the breakout. I got some other food that we’ve had before (Blue Buffalo Wilderness) and he ate that. I’ve been feeding him the Blue Buffalo for about a week now and his hives are getting better. I ended up throwing away the rest of the Merrick (about 20 pounds worth) food. Before this, we’ve had no problems with Merrick.
