The most fun ones take a long time
I got this kit for free as part of the Amazon Vine program in exchange for an honest review.I like that the booklet had lots of information and actual science in it. The first "experiment" was looking at plant "breathing" and it explained HOW it worked and the experiment supplemented that by "showing" it, though it does involve going outside to an available plant having to wait a day or 2. Not a "fun" experiment for children with short attention spans, but I liked it because I thought it was cool (I majored in botany so that's a very biased opinion). The kit is about 16 "experiments" but they have variations that you can do, so that almost doubles the number. Not to mention that many are repeatable. Please be aware that a lot of needed supplies are NOT included. Nothing particularly expensive or hard to get but it will probably require a trip to thr grocery store (ex. 1 experiment needed an orange, another needed milk). Most of the experimenta take between 10 and 45 minutes (set up, dry items, ect) I estimate (we haven't done them all so im guessing) but a few will take much longer. I am REALLY excited about the paper making because they can make little journals with enough of the pages but we haven't done that one yet.The bioplastics portion take curing time and are a bit too involved for my girls so haven't done those yet either.I did read through all the experiments and I think they'd be fun (for me) but my girls I think are a little too young to really appreciate them [soon to be 9 yo and a turning 7 in two weeks]. They were impressed with the quick and easy experiments but I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy the more complicated experiments more than they will. Making a mess will be fun for them though so it's a win in my book.I think this kit would be more appropriate for children a bit older or with longer attention spans or who are REALLY into science. My 8.5 year old wants to be an astronaut detective so she prefers solving mysteries to playing with goo or doing crafts, and my almost 7 year old would prefer to climb on things so her attention span for these sorts of things isn't great. BUT, this was an exciting thing for us to do together and that was worth all the hassle and clean up. They complained about the experiments that didn't have instantaneous results but forgot their complaints as if they were never there when moving on to the next experiment. So, yes, I would recommend this kit, however, I think the recommend age group on the box might be a tad too young.

Fun and Educational
I’m helping out watching great nephews and nieces in the next few months and wanted to find a fun, educational activity that we could all do together. The Organic Science Lab is perfect. The kit comes with over 14 different pieces (beakers, test tubes, molds, spatula, glycerin and more) that all fit snugly into their own space in the box. The manual has about 30 different experiments/projects that you can do including making organic slime, DNA extraction, papermaking, tie dye and organic plastic making. Each activity is a brief scientific description and easy to follow directions. The kit also mentions what common household items to have on hand to do some of the experiments. I wanted to do a test run before the kids came over and made the molded gelatin bioplastic. It's made with glycerin (included) and unflavored gelatin (you provide).I added green food coloring to the bioplastic. It was very easy I think the kids will love this and the other projects. I’m going to buy each of them their own kit. Organic Science Lab would also be perfect for homeschoolers, family night, and kids groups (church, scouts). It’s fun and educational. A perfect kit for rainy day activities.

Nice beginner "kid scientist" kit
The media could not be loaded. Â I'm going to be baby-sitting my second cousin's which are around nine and ten years old and they're boys. I wanted to get something that we could spend time doing together being entertained as well as learning something instead of just sitting in front of the TV to play video games. I got this kid on Amazon and I opened it up to see what all kinds of goodies were in it so I can get familiar before they come over and we start doing some of these little experiments and the first thing I saw was the Slime experiment that I learned in seventh grade when my teacher and science called it oobleck. So I immediately wanted to try this experiment cuz it's been a long time since I did and I know what my second cousins love slime. When I used to go to there he'll stay would be playing with it almost every time a few years ago. So when I open this kit I actually expected it to have more ingredients like the things you needed to do the experiment but I guess I misread and they weren't included. It just comes with all the containers and then structions and the trays but it does have the glycerin and a funnel I didn't expect. The beaker and Erlenmeyer flask are cute small sizes. I'd recommend this to kids and adults because I was reading the book and I was actually learning more about plants and stuff. This is pretty neat and I had most of the ingredients around the house that I need to do a lot of the experiments. I just didn't have a whole lot of cornstarch so I cut the recipe in half to test it out and now I know I have to go get some more before they come over. Nice little organic science kit and I appreciate how the box and tools are biodegradable! Keep it green for our future kids!

FUN WHILE LEARNING
This was a fun science lab! The kit didn't come with all materials needed for the experiments. The basic household items are needed to complete some the tasks. Overall it was fun and entertaining.

Love this new SmartLab kit
We have been fans of the SmartLab toys, we started with the Squishy Human Body (much fun) and continued with their Tiny boxes. This Organic Science Lab is really great, I love that everything including the box and packaging is totally recyclable. This is good for homeschooling or just extra science activities. Love the making paper part... Definitely a nice educational toy, it can super fast through Amazon and in great shape.
